SSM, It's good to hear that it's not a shared sentiment... That gives me some hope for this moving forward. Absolutely Arch. As I posted early this morning I was floored to read the comments. But then again the sad part is nothing is beginning to surprise me. I gave M2 the benefit of the doubt on calling the victim's father advocating for his son an MF. Low and behold I learn it was true. I was floored to learn that as well. What is this world coming to? So sad!

I too am speechless. I can't believe such an important legislative decision would not even make it out of committee. So unbelievably sad. It is clear from Dr.Who's account as well as what I've been able to read in the news, that it is flat-out politics that determined the ruling. To me, I knew Darlene would have a hard time given the fact that she's a freshman, the ugly election that put her in there, the " I hate Naperville and all that it stands for" from many of the Chicago Democrats, etc. That's how this HB didn't make it out of committee. And that's wrong. It had nothing to do with the true decision at hand. I feel so sorry for the Pfifer family as once again their belief in the democratic process and the thought that someone would help protect their child is smashed! I must disagree STRONGLY with that statement. Having many family members that are Chicago Democrats and would LOVE to live out here and are very happy that my children are growing up in a beautiful community getting a quality education (thank god for the teachers because administration is not so good right now). Don't let the opinion of 3 ignorant politicians speak for the collections of Chicago Democrats. To make generalizations for a group never turns out to be accurate. As a born and raised south sider I concur with your feelings - however having worked for 'the machine' I don't believe the 3 politicians actions speak for their communities at all. Nothing wrong with being a Chicagoan or being Democratic - what is wrong is most of the politicians don't speak for their constituencies in things like this - they speak for their self serving selves. If this bill was up for a vote to the people of Chicago - I am 100% sure it would have passed easily. Many of my friends and relatives still live in the city - and they love it- they always will. They were apalled and would most Chicago residents be. They need to choose their leaders more wisely- but then I am not going to be the one in this glass house to point the finger at them alone.

I should not have made the generalization. I was lazy and used the term Chicago Democrats but should have called them out individually - Kenneth Dunkin and Monique Davis. Sorry if I offended you.

Sorry if I offended you. Don't forget Charles Jefferson!!! He wasn't quote worthy, but it was pretty clear that the 3 D's in the room weren't voting for anything. The 4 R's were the "yes" votes, and 2 D's - Ford and Chairperson Collins - were missing. Jefferson was pressed afterwards in the hallway about what wording he would like to see, and he quickly started speaking in circles. It was pretty clear he wasn't about to help or offer any constructive criticism.

Maybe we she ask MM to call down to these MF'ers?? ;D Good thinking. For what it's worth, it looks like over 200 MFers have signed a petition asking for his complete resignation. It looks like the numbers keep growing. Has anyone else talked to their kids about what's going on? My HS kids were in shock. I haven't said a whole lot about it (let's face it, what HS kid really listens to anything) but suffice it to say they were confused about the whole thing. Welcome to politics, eh?
