I think we are referring to the former Ms. LGC.

Why are you so sarcastic? Start a thread if you want. You are saying you are undecided, but clearly your no predilections are stronger. Think what you want... I'm trying to be fairminded and make a sound decision. That's why I come here.

Don't think it just may be the YES and NO people. I have a few HS kids on my block that were looking intensely at my sign. That has made me bring mine in at night.

I heard thru the grapevine.........some of our fine HS Boys seem to think it's a thrill to yank signs............If I find out my son is among them........

And with a weekend upon us, I'm sure there will be more than that.
I remember when my daughter graduated from WVHS, the green/ gold name signs in the front lawn, one weekend like a hundred 'disappeared' - only to show up at school the next week !

OK a little perspective....from a Law Enforcement Person (Me). The majority of signs taken from both sides can be attributed to area youthes....They hear their parents position on things and decide this is the way they can "help"...then there are some of our fine upstanding children who have no opinion either way but still take the signs for fun. I am certain some signs were "taken" by adults too, but I am willing to bet it was not very many......OK I agree even 1 is too many.... The Police will remove them if placed improperly and they get a complaint. They do not drive around looking for signs placed wrong to yank them. Public works people, maybe, but doubt that also....we usually give a little greater leeway at election time, but have to act is a complaint is received.
I hope that clears it up a bit for all.
If a sign is taken and you want to report it. Naperville PD and I am sure Aurora PD the same will take it as a phone report. For the unincorporated areas, DuPage Co. Sheriff would probably send a car as they really don't do over the phone reports, not sure about Will Co. Sheriff........but don't expect much follow-up investigation from anyone, unless someone is caught "in the act".

I know there was discussion about vandalism when it occured in White Eagle after the boundary meeting, but in my opinion not as much or as vehemently as the anger regarding the signs. I agree that both are being caused mostly by kids. But the damage done in White Eagle was much worse and the reasons much more serious. Targeting a community like that was appalling. Stealing signs is childish and annoying. Let's keep it in perspective.

During the boundary discussions, I expressed my concern to the SB that eventually children act out their parents anger. I was very concerned that as tempers rose, our children would be caught up in it. IMO, the acts in WE were exactly that.
I think WE responded to the vandelism with dignity. There was no pointing of fingers, which would only have added additional fuel to a fire that was raging. WE residents expressed their concern, but also that this was an isolated incident.
As far as the signs go, I hope we can all follow WE's example.

In another post I had talked about the large number of Vote "No" signs on Willowridge drive. Shortly after that post, about the same number of Vote "Yes" signs appeared. Now they are ALL gone, there are no signs at all. In addition to those signs, there have been a large number of "Yes" signs stolen in and around our community. One homeowner across the street from our ES, got her "Yes" sign stolen, and her car egged. We are in the process of replacing the signs that have been stolen. It's odd, but on one particular street, about 3 or 4 signs were stolen, but about 6 or 7 weren't touched. One was found high up in a tree (where it curently resides).

The sign being taken one thing and bad enough and not worth risking anything over, but , damage to my property or any threat to my family and all bets are off.
Let's hope this nonsense stops before someone does get hurt --- and eventually they will pick on the wrong person who will catch them in the act and go off, who knows how severely. How sad !
