What do you think they will do if Eola fails? I have no idea. BB, I think, come hell or high water is not going to happen. (unless they make like Walmart and we see prices dropping!) You have made some pretty bold assumptions that I would hope would not be passed along through the rumor mill if they are true. The School Board should be addressing these issues. No mention of this was made at the IPPC meeting. You also posted about Macom and that turned out to have incomplete details because the full information was probably not "convenient" to disclose to anyone. "Your post... -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does it bother anyone that Macom doesn't own all that land? And that they offered it up to the school district without clearing it with Naperville Park District? And that they are in some kind of litigation with Naperville Park District? (so I doubt NPD is going to be real open to wanting to be of service)?
Where I come from, those are some red flags that you want to avoid; Mr L. doesn't sound trustworthy? "Turns out that the NPD should have been listed as an advantage as they were willing to talk to the school district. Not only was NPD willing to talk to the school district (and DID by the way), they were willing to do a LAND SWAP....as in at no cost to anyone. So much for that little "error" on the district's Metea Site recommendation sheet. Later edit: Again, it's not about boundaries, it's about LYING. If you do not believe me about the NPD, contact the president Kristen Jungles. She will go on the record as to the intentions of the Park District regarding the Macom site.

Napermom,
Why in the world (regardless of one's viewpoint) would anyone trust this SB and feel good about them being in charge of our children's education?
I just don't get it.....
By the way, to Rural and others, I've recovered from my earlier case of food poisoning. A little Chardonnay does wonders.

I went to the other board out of morbid curiosity, and found this related to the WE/TG going to WV if Eola is not accepted implication:
"This was GDs mockup. Remember, this is the students we have right now. No growth.
2009-10 school year, WE/Fry Fr and Sophs moved to WV as per the planned schedule
HS WV Main 3397 NV Main 3340 WV Fr Cntr 1311 NV Fr Cntr 983 Tot WV 4458 NV 4573"
<end of copied portion of post>
First, does anyone have a calculator?
Second, I really find the implication that TG and WE should be sent to WV to pay for their sins really amusing. News flash, most of us could give a crap. Probably 20 people in a neighborhood of 1000 houses give a crap. Taking such pleasure in the mere thought of inflicting punishment on people is completely bizarre.
Third, I just have to express my true surprise at the blind anger and rage over this whole situation which was apparent on my tour around the other board.
Now I know that there are people questioning the AME site that can be just as charming, and tensions run high around here too from time to time.
And I do feel that some of the people who supported the 3rd HS from the beginning are probably feeling like after doing their part in fighting for the school that they would not attend, they were totally hung out to dry once the site was changed to become one they would attend, and I get that.
But there is a difference between the people that just want the SB to provide some data, answers and straightforward communications (on various issues), and the people opposed to the school for reasons that are personal.
And the FUD about split shifts and trailers and being sent to WV as punishment for lack of compliance are not very effective. For those of us that are concerned with cost management, safety or basic accountability to an above board and well documented business process, those things would actually be preferable.

Of course, when others call the area where someone lives a toxic waste dump/disaster waiting to happen, some people tend to get a little pissy about it. But really, the nerve!

Yeah yesterday was an eye opener. I pretty much came to the conclusion we are all driven by our own agendas. Edit: word choice

Lots of implications then, x # less students than projection = lower ops costs per year than original projection - makes the $91M last longer ( yes I know it's not a 'surplus per se) - and also delays when the next ops ref has to be put forward. Not to mention slightly less overcrowding. Yeah I love the comments from some who portray themselves at WVHS supporters who then portry TG or WE being sent there as punishment. Mixed message there in my opinion. Someone please send us there - I promise we won't view it as punishment, for us or anyone else.

Are you talking about the Macom and Hammen property? Actually, yes. People say things about areas where they are not from (myself included) without thinking that there are real human beings that do live there and may feel like they're being attacked for their choice of neighborhood. How stupid are you to actually live there? Who would buy a home there? We've seen the posts. Who would let their kids swim with all those EMFs? Personally, I could care less what anyone thinks about my home choice. I find most of the talk amusing. I'm just trying to clarify why some people in this area (or Macom or Hamman) may not find it so cute.

Ther will be no buildings on that exact property, but before AME bought the parcel of land, it was owned by a developer who was planning to build townhouses there. IIRC, the forest preserve wasn't going to let AME build according to their original plans on the land they held on Liberty (too close to a nature preserve, I think?). Theyapproached the developer and were able to buy the property on Eola when the Preserve bought their land on Liberty.

No- that land was never even going to be for sales until we approached them...isn't that the story ?

Arch, what's your pipe explosion radius?
What's your position on EMF?
According to your PCBs and Lord knows what other toxins are leeching into the earth at astronomical rates for decades, oozing their way toward the school.
Are you saying that the dangers magically stop at the property boundary?

And as opposed to another suggestion I read on we just don't but th 17acres ( if that's all the issue is - we'll see)- and all will be OK. It will still be part of the schooll campus as I see it, whether we own itor not.
