Okay, I am opening this thread to hear what the viable alternatives are to a law suit to get the district to slow down and review all data - environmental as well as financial, and seriously consider what the best alternative is. Now is the chance for all ticked about the law suit to tell everyone else how this should be handled. NOT viable solutions: 1/ This has already been done - 2/ sut down and shut up ( accept it already etc.) Nothing. Even the good doctor has stated previously that he pushed the YES vote hard and was behind the election bids of some current sb members. You are now seeing the fruits of your hard work. As they say, be careful what you wish for. Yes indeed -- not something I am proud of today, but you are correct. I am doing what I can to correct that..but yes I helped empower this runaway train.

Now that the lawsuit has begun, there are no other viable alternatives. I'm slowly getting over my anger and I do actually hope that it stops the Eola site. My other hope now is that CFO was actually right about not needing a third high school. How difficult is it, really, to get into IMSA? The kid's a fairly good bubble filler.... then you be hoping extra hard the lawsuit works as today's article states they will begin without IEPA approval. and lots of those good bubble fillers will be leaving - all I can say is plan ahead.

Some will not see it that way - however what you want for your children is your call and your right to make that call - btw - there are alternatives to IMSA.

Eh, just kidding. I'd rather a crowded school than away from home in high school. We're not going anywhere. Some will not see it that way - however what you want for your children is your call and your right to make that call - btw - there are alternatives to IMSA. Some people will complete the self-fulfilling prophecy of leaving the destruction zone of 204 completely and the enrollment will drop again, either abandoning their houses or doing what they need to do to send their kids to IMSA or Benet. I guess we may need only 2 high schools after this train wreck. But I would like to hear what the solution will be for this near term problem: 1. Transfer tax revenues have dropped 25%. 2. Assessments drop because of the economy and "other factors" including foreclosures and boneheaded SB decisions, effectively reducing property tax revenue. 3. Residents will refuse to write their 18 - 20k yearly property tax checks to provide more funny money for the SB to piss away. My pen now weighs 2,000 pounds and it is getting heavier by the day...I don't know if I will be able to lift it when the time comes. 4. If they try to pull a "Furstenau-type" tax rate increase on us to address the problem, then our 18k - 20k tax bill will turn into a 22k - 25k monster, and then surely nobody will pay. If this is true, then what will prevent our district from cutting most of the programs or going bankrupt? I can't see it working out if they continue down this path.

When was the last time assessments went down in 204? It was before my time. Of course, I don't know how things work in the south. It may be different there. I don't know too many intelligent people who would refuse to pay their property tax bill, but again, I can't speak for everyone. Most of the people I know, and this is just my own personal experience, would like to get something for the 18k-20k they are spending on their taxes. However, if someone would like to spend more and use less, that is their own personal decision, and I respect that. This district is far from bankrupt.

Thank you...That is point #5:
5. If the assessor continues to increase the valuations in this economy for properties that have clearly dropped in value, then the citizens will rise up with pitchforks and shovels and storm the castle.

The district will go bankrupt moving forward on that site.

It seems apparent that the SB/SD will not be slowed for any reason. Then doesn't it follow that the alternatives lie elswhere ie. the current property sellers and our local ans state elected officials?

Phrase of the Day From the Chicago Tribune Magazine crossword puzzle: Deus ex machina --describes an artificial, or improbable, character, device, or event introduced suddenly in a work of fiction or drama to resolve a situation or untangle a plot (such as an angel suddenly appearing to solve problems).

Can it be custom fitted to the specific requirements for each member of the SB?

Can it be custom fitted to the specific requirements for each member of the SB? You figure out who is who: One calculates and tabulates. One gathers people around in a circle and prays. One honors whatever words it's told. One turns around 180 degrees and answers. One ignores you with a smirk. One asks what is being voted on. One rarely shows up. And the 8th one is busy sleeping. dreaming of all of the supporting data he has but can not ever show you.

Play fair, Arch. Some of these can be applied to more than one!
