Or they could just approve it as is and be done with it. Remember they do not need our approval.

Or think of it this way...they release site and boundary recs, people are mad. Now instead of 70% positive feedback from supporters of the north site, they have 70% detractors. So they postpone the boundary announcement just in time to get everyone squabbling and they close on the land while people are still bickering...no Phase II results, no appraisals, no answers. They haven't given us a shred of additional info that poeple have asked for and it has been very close to a month now since the site vote. ETA - I also think it is very purposeful that they are NOT having the meeting tonight in one of the auditoriums. They DON"T WANT to accomodate speakers, community involvment, resident input?? But what are we focused on? Boundaries that don't take effect until 2009 and after a majority of the board may be replaced. That board room is really small. I was thinking of going, but it'll be a zoo. Someone mentioned they were allowing 100 people to speak during public comment at 3 minutes each. Is that really true? Hard to believe they'll listen to 5 hours of public comment. Now that I think about it, I recall one meeting 2 years ago going past midnight, so I guess its possible.

You can say what you like about not needing our approval, but they need US and our support!
That's exactly what I was referring to...I know lots of people who have said "I'd like to attend, but it'll be a zoo and I won't be acle to hear and I won't have a seat"
Nice tactic on the part of the SB, and it's working, keep people away.

If anything I would be more concerned about the way my community was acting having an influence on my property values. This is all the school board's fault! They have put us in this position!! D203 could have solved their Mill Street Elementary problems by shuffling boundaries. Superintendent Leis had a meeting with Will-O-Way about moving them away from Mill Street. The parents FREAKED out. He actually LISTENED to them and guess what - instead of solving the Mill St overcrowding for FREE they added $11M to their referendum to expand it in order to save that subdivision a CRAPPY commute. I didn't see any namecalling or crappy nicknames for Will-o-way. Because they were HEARD. That $11M will probably be paid back in a few years in bus savings. BUT here we are in D204 - our concerns are ignored and we are told to SHUT UP OR get a CRAPPY NICKNAME and have board members imply nasty stuff about them. HUH? Interesting perspective. I kind of agree that if our board and administration weren't treating us like sh** this all may be a little easier to take. blogs.suburbanchicagonews.com/beaconblog/2008/02/furor_and_peace_school_distric.htmlFuror and peace: school districts' boundary stories BY MIKE CETERAIn the Oswego School District, all seems calm over proposed boundary shifts. Not so much in the Indian Prairie School District, where parents are hopping mad. Boundary changes are often an emotional issue, where an arbitrary line can literally divide neighborhoods, and kids who have gone to school together all their lives suddenly find themselves ripped apart from their classmates. But if the issue is so contentious in one district, why isn't it in the other? The difference appears to rest in how the parents in each district think they've been treated. Here's an example of the reaction to the Indian Prairie plans: The Ashwood development is slated to have 800 homes, but they have been slow to develop. That meant the first residents, such as (Terri) Wiborg, had to send their children to Kendall and Graham elementary schools for the last several years until Peterson opened in fall 2007. "We feel like an island and that nobody actually considers our feelings," Wiborg said. Here's an example of the reaction to the Oswego plans: Parents mostly praised Behlow's plans, which would affect 685 students in 2008-2009 and 905 in 2009-2010. "I only have six words for you: Thank you, thank you, thank you," parent Brad Gooch said.

Fry had the most people at the meeting tonight. The most speakers, the most prepared, and documented presentations. We were ignored in a way that can be described no other way than complete disrespect. They came in knowing their plan, and did not acknowledge us, or the lies we were fed about the bridge. Fry ended up with: * THE longest commute @ a supposed 33min. (own was 35min, but has been corrected) *the ONLY walkers turned to bussers (Yes the board even stated part of fry would be walkers to NVHS, and Jim Stoner of Idot said there would be no reimbursement for parts of Fry next year to NVHS) *The only elementary from it's middle school to be pulled out to a different high school attendance (oh & the 7 kids from Peterson will join us!) THANKS FOR LISTENING TO THE VOICES OF THE PARENTS OF FRY!

Not too worry the transportation costs will be the same - Laidlaw said so.

Transporting walkers by buss an extra 5 miles each way every day, and adding activity busses for kidsthat could have walked accross a bridge for free....Yeah I buy that as a wash! Thanks Karla for the information - will you do my taxes?

"Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.Obviously this quote does not pertain to anyone in the ipsd 204 Administration or the SB. How sad and pathetic. I almost have no words to describe what is occuring here. Fry doen't matter to the SB, Administration, or even most of our 204 community. The corruption and bias is so obvious but people turn a blind eye. Instead they accuse us of being snobs, selfish, and whiners. Fry is the disposable community in this district and it is proven over and over and over again. We don't have a voice in the system so we don't matter. I challenge anyone to show me ONE single instance in which ANY of the SB or the Administration (Principals included) are inconvenienced by these boundaries in ANY way. John Stephens can now wave at his West Owen friends as he drives past them on his way to WV. Maybe they are disposable too. What about Watts? No representation either. Disposable. I also challenge my under- represented friends to continue this fight. It is time for drastic measures. It is also time to involve outside authorities. I will be in full support of any legal action taken and in fact will continue researching what recourse we have at the state / federal level. The gauntlet has been thrown. It's our turn to pick it up. Nice, polite, factual, and logical presentations got us nowhere. Time for phase 2. The end is not in sight. This is only the beginning. This is no longer about boundaries.

Do I understand correctly that they moved 160 kids out of MV to WV, but sent noone else to MV... so the enrollment numbers are now MV at 2450 and WV at 2750?
So we don't even have balance of enrollment numbers?
What criteria did we meet? Looks like NONE.

This is no longer about boundaries. When Dr. D started the meeting talking about entitlement, I knew where the whole thing was headed. I am quite frankly tired of these people judging me and lecturing me. They talk about repsect, but that works both ways. M2 shouting that he "doesn't have to do this" doesn't seem very respectful to me. And why doesn't he "have to do this"? (meaning conduct the meeting)? Doesn't he owe that to the taxpayers who fund the schools? Then they tell us they care about all the children - but I sat there thinking "no, they don't care about mine." But I have to say, I'm not surprised. Anyone who watched this the last time knew what we were in for. Just more of the same. Researching, you're so right - it's not about boundaries anymore.

Scullen was at capacity, actually one of the more crowded MSs in the district. I know Ashwood Park is small now, but didn't they just postpone a re boundaring?
If they had switched WE and WEL than there would be room at Scullen for Ashwood Park, but Welch is much bigger than WE, so what does that mean?

First off I was so offended when the meeting starting with the word entitlement.
Second, they screwed Owen West. OW will be the lowest precentage in their MS assignment and OE will be driving by them to get to school.
Third, Not one mention of a 3 way split to Still when they were considering OE to NV, but when the Welch/WE swich was brought up it, Kathy was very quick to pick out that would split Still to 3 HS.
Ms. Zozulia again provided false info about the walkers at Fry. I guess you need to have a payed administrator to protect your area.
This is not over and yes researching this is not a boundary issue anymore. This SB is rude and arrogant. To pass those boundaries and screw areas like they did to OW is unbelievable.

The SB feedback from Owen was to please split us up, because Owen East wanted to stay at WV. I was under the impression Owen is happy as a whole.
Yes, TG was organized. Yes, they had the most speakers, even bringing in 2 sets of kids for even more drama/emotion. The board explained their reasoning in plain terms. Like WE, it is the most logical move. More of Welch is walkers. All of TG is bussed because the state deems 59 a hazard. More of Welch attendance area is less than 1.5 miles from school (main campus). TG was using distance to gold building, not main campus. yada, yada. I thought it was ugly, ugly especially when TG got up and claimed it was discrimination to move minorities out of NV. WTF!!!!

Not only did they completely disrespect Fry, they were asked multiple times about their accountability for promising the referendum we voted on in 06 then backing down. The only person who even addressed this was CV, stating that people shouldn't have voted on the ref b/c it didn't say enough specifics about the site or the boundaries. What about the other 5 members who voted last time? What about M2's "guarantees" (which a woman from WE brought up very effectively)? They never even acknowledged responsibility for false promises.
Someone from Tamarack had the nerve to say that these were the boundaries for Neuqua that our district voted on so that we should keep them. Hello? We didn't vote specifically for NV boundaries. We voted for district boundaries with the HS at BB.
