Remember, Metzger said he isn't worried about getting locked into whatever price the jury sets. "I don't believe there's much risk of it being an out-of-control number in the first place," he said. "Our data is better than their data. Even if it's the worst case scenario, we can afford it so it doesn't matter." Source: www.studentsfirst.us/news/contentview.asp?c=197819Here's another Metzgerism that hit me when reading the article: Isn't that the exact process SB/Admin used for boundaries?

Now they claim their data on the MWGEN site says it's safe. Who feels like gambling again with their data? Are people willing to take the downside if they are wrong again? Lastnight it really hit home for me that we don't really know what's in that soil. Even if they clean it up...make their claims. For every kid that gets sick, their parents are always going to wonder. I know I would. You always want to know why this happened to your kid. It's really opening us up for some serious litigation. The Admin. and SB lie and it has been proven. To trust them with this would just be stupid.

Did I understand that Todd DiPaolo (?) right when he said that there were documented diesel spills but they were remediated according to IEPA standards? Did they then say that those spills were in the same places that the current 5 bad soil samples were found? And these were remediated areas?

This guy didn't help though One guy out of at least 70 speakers spoke in that manner and he was booed and the next speaker spoke said that is not how we feel. This is true...I was also sitting amongst a large group of TG/Fry parents. They were also appalled at his comments. I am very sure he is in the minority in TG, however, if there is 1 like that, there probably are a few more......macy/lacy, I am not dissing you or TG......but it's those few who have been dissing your area. I also understood their reasoning for moving Fry. Currently (not in the future) Fry students are bussed to NVHS, Welch students are not. This was the SB/Admin's starting point. Yes the bridge would make some of Fry's area walkers, but not all, and the SB was very clear there was going to be no neighborhood splits, therefore TG would go to each school in it's entirety. There is no room left at NVHS for ALL of TG. Sorry TG your number came up...you have to move. Your situation is not unique. Yes I am sure the TG folks feel that the bridge angle was not as thoroughly researched by the SD. They looked at it but decided it did not outweigh other already known factors, therefore no further consideration was given to it. Personally that is how the SD should have responded to the bridge, instead of finding "maintanance" issues, but given the past history of how the SD/SB/Admin handles things, I was not surprised. They have been called on so many other things in the past you would have thought they would have learned their lesson....apparently not. There are many other School dist's that have the same situation. Most notably, as told to me by one of my co-workers in U46. He lives on the west side of Rt 59, like TG, and can hear events at Barlett HS, but yet his Subdiv is sent to So. Elgin (a newer HS too) further west. So I am not sure what kind of legal precedents were being considered, but that above one would be a killer. All that being said......PLEASE redirect your energy and emotions to help make your new school assignments a positive experience for your kids. off my soapbox now......

Did he say how much was 'documented' as a spill?
I have 609 barrels in just one instance in 1993. Should I load up the DB and check for more?
(Like anyone really gives a rat's butt at this time)

(Like anyone really gives a rat's butt at this time) You have 609 barrels unaccounted for in a log 15 years ago. It doesn't mean it was dumped in the ground. Could have been trucked off elsewhere. The true proof is in the soil samples which have been done.

Can someone that still has faith in this school board please lay out the reasons they believe every SB member is not in this for themselves? I used to think they were impartial but last night was so ridiculous I lost my last shred of faith.
CB/JC - closest high school AT - closest high school JS - spared from bad commute that many others face; had to become a complete island to do it BG - wanted Fry to go with WE to WV MM - Steck kept together at WV even though they are closer to MV than most of MV attendance area CV - McCarty kept together at WV even though they are closer to MV than most of MV attendance area
Please don't use the walker reasoning on Steck and MCC - other walkers got pulled and other ES got split.
I'm really asking this as a serious question.

They are just as impartial as the vocal people in the subdivisions who attempted to sink the entire referendum because they did not get a slice of the pie last time and are now claiming it to be Karma or the best thing since sliced bread because it's now their closest high school too.

Can someone clarify the statements made last night about the MS grandfathering? Originally, when MV opens with 9/10th graders, all shifts were also supposed to occur. Is that still the case? What if MV doesn't open until 2010? Will Juniors be moved to another HS?

I do agree it would have been good to pull out non walking subdivions from McCarty and Steck to allow Watts in at WVHS. Don't have a good explanation of why they did not explore that.

IMO they should have
1) slid OE to NV OW to Wv 2) All of Petreson to Wv 3) Split Steck and McCarty busers to MV 4) Welch to Still 5) WE to Scullen

We did not even come up in conversation -- ever. Yet Brighton Ridge is literally < 3 minutes from my house. Why is that ? Because we don't have a SB member that lives here and both those areas do ? coincidence - I don't think so any more. Only 2 schools are being asked to go to the furthest HS from their home - and not furthest by a little. It's bull. I know if they ever close an ES it will be ours - that way we can have NOTHING close to our house.

What if MV doesn't open until 2010? Will Juniors be moved to another HS? The MS grandfathering is as follows.....If you have a child who is a 7th grader at a certain MS, but will have to move to a new MS for 8th Grade. They can stay at their old MS, as long as they provide their own transportation. I understood that the new HS will open with 9/10 grades only.

The true proof is in the soil samples which have been done. The log was a govt document, data signed for upon submission. That is how that process works. And they proved there was oil there, did they not? Thus, a spill. Did they disclose the ground water report? Prove it got shipped off. I posted where you can go to verify and prove it's unaccounted for. As of 2003, there was still a full tank of DFO on the premises. Are you saying that in a place that CONSUMES DFO that they would send some away? To where? They had purchase contracts, not the ability to be a reseller.
