Hmm, seems a little odd that this is sponsored by a naperville dems and right during the pre-election run up.
Is this a school board function? will any other board members be there?

Woa, this is the same website that has Paul White as an active participant/poster and has the following article just posted October 13th on it by Paul White: District 204 taxpayers snuckered again! Submitted by paulwhite on October 13, 2006 - 9:41pm.
Indian Prairie School District 204’s official 9/30-enrollment report is out and boy is it an eye-popper. The district is 200 students behind its own "no growth" model and over 600 behind the district model used to "sell" the 3rd High School to taxpayers. Elementary school enrollment is down 100 students this year and that decline is projected to continue. It appears now, more than ever, that those local citizens groups were right when they warned us about the district's inaccurate growth models and financial mismanagement. Is it any wonder that under the district’s model we built the still empty Peterson Elementary School? Now, the district is trying to spend hundreds of millions of the taxpayers’ money to build a 3rd high school that will never be needed. The district is so badly mismanaged that they have no money to operate this school and no land on which to build it! What does that mean to you? Yet another tax increase referendum is coming in 2009 to pay for the district’s mistakes! What District 204 badly needs is new leadership; not more empty schools. When you vote next year for new school board members, I urge you to vote for change.
What's going on here? d204mom are you sure M2 is doing this? It seems very, very out of place for him.

Where did he get the enrollment figures? I saw the ones for 203 not the ones for 204.

Well CFO member Paul White doesn't realize that the 1st grade class is now the largest class ever in 204 @ 2358 up from 2099 whne they were K.
The increase might be due to the private schools offering all day K and people are sending their kids there instead of 204 K.
I believe that this is the largest increase from K to 1st grade ever. Actually the 03-04 K class increased by 273.
He looks to be wrong about the SD prediction. From my notes, the SD predicted 2200 1st graders for 06-07 and that is under by 158.

Actually, after further thinking about this, I applaud M2 for getting out there and getting the message out and answering questions/concerns regardless of the venue. It can't hurt.
Good luck Mark!

Again, where are you finding this information? I asked the SB. Paul probably got his info from the same place.

I'm a little confused because the Naperville Democrats supported the referendum.
In the search area, put in "District 204" and you'll see it in the results as well as Paul White's rant.

So why would 203 print their enrollment figures and not 204?

Wasn't this just a blog on the dem. site? I think I would be more concerned as to where else Paul White is ranting. He is laying the groundwork for next year's SB elections and my guess would be, CFO wants more seats.

FYI M2 let me know that the Naperville Democrats approached him and asked him to speak as they like to cover local topics. Apparently they will take a member vote after Q&A to determine if they'll endorse the quick take action. It all seems on the up and up. Besides it's Naperville democrats, they'll be like 3 people there right?

Is this the guy who lives by Colishaw?

"Is this the guy who lives by Colishaw?" I believe so. I used to live on the other end of that neighborhood.
I remember driving through the neighborhood before the referendum and being struck by how one house had 2 vote no signs and 3 or 4 houses around it had vote yes signs (one very large) almost pointed at the vote no house. I said something to my wife about how it must be a tense block.
I later found out from another old neighbor that it was Paul White's house. So I guess his neighbors arent too enamored of him either. Just guessing, but their request for $10 for the block party was probably met with a flyer accusing the party committee of conspiratorial lies and mismanagement. "Your block party is lieing to you. They can get tubs of ice cream for $7.99 instead of the $8.99 per tub they claimed to need. And do we really need 3 bags of potato chips? Who pays for this, we do!!"

FYI - I emailed the chair of the NTDO last night regarding the blogs on the website. Here is his reply:
Anyone is allowed to post to a blog to the website. Mr. White's comments are his alone and in no way reflective upon the Naperville Township Democratic Organization (which - you may remind people - officially endorsed the 204 referendum. The local Republican organization officially did NOT.) I have never met Mr. White. He is not an officer - nor does he hold any type of leadership position. As an organization, we are proud to have endorsed the 204 referendum and we will continue to fight to make sure this school is built. If anyone has any questions regarding this, I would be happy to speak with them! Tom tom@napervilledemocrats.org

Blurb in today's Sun:
Education Briefs
October 18, 2006 sun staff Forum to outline next step for high school
Indian Prairie School District 204 board member Mark Metzger will speak at a community forum at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. He will discuss the district's move to seek "quick-take powers" in its plan to build a third high school along 75th Street and Commons Drive in Aurora.
If approved by the Illinois General Assembly, the powers will allow the district to take possession of the site and let a jury decide the price later.
