IMO, the MOST you are talking about are the old wheatland boundries. Most of those loctions were here long before there was a Tall Grass. That part of Peterson I believe I am sensing concern about.. Well do not worry. The administration has taken care of those 7.. yes, 7 kids and made sure they will get their just deserves by sending them to Still by themselves and onto WVHS. I wonder what kind of bus they send for seven kids? I am not trying to open up old battles but honestly 7 kids.. Is that going to open the path for Fry to NVHS? No. I'm not talking about your area (north of 103rd) - I'm talking about the Ashwood subdivision south of 103rd - they are going to NVHS. Do I have that right? I don't get that. Why were they put back into NVHS? And I don't agree with the old Wheatland deal either. If they are going west of 59, they should have taken us all. The Creek, (south of 111th), Century, are walkers to crone. Crone is 100% NVHS feeder. Crone is beyond packed at the momment. Yeah, the wheatland thing I agree is hard to understand.

So, Brad, how about M2's statement? He said this would not happen. I'll be waiting for some sort of statement from him..... Until a physical building starts to get built somewhere I am not sure I will believe anything. What do I think about his comments? This thing has gone on so long that bravado like comments such as that have come back to bite. You look to your leaders to inspire confidence. He was certainly confident. I do not think he will address it for the same reason as WVHS Parent. It's a different site. I also do not think Mark is running the show. This is Dr. D's and his administrations program. All Dr. D needs form the board is a vote.

In our opinion, the location of the land and boundaries are contributing factors to why people voted as they did. Assuming also that when Howie says "OUR" opinion he is referring to the school board and administration? I actually just had a bit of a revelation. If Howie was still in charge I really believe we'd be building at Brach Brodie right now. I just don't think he would have issued that POS financial analysis - he would have started construction in the fall and voila - deficit erased! omg am I really wishing for HC back? I guess we all expected our "leadership" to get better, not worse. We wouldn't have the proposed ES machinations to accommodate ADK either. Or the increased class sizes. And I am still questioning the ever-increasing administrative overhead since new sheriff came to town.

Lacy, Yes, to me it seems like you need to shut up or be punished or labeled as a "bad community". I live in the Fry attendance area. It's been obvious in my postings. There is much talk about "behaving badly", etc. Give me a break. People have lost focus. Credibility, fiduciary responsibility, etc. all pertain to the School Board. Not any one particular community. Yep, the whole labeling game is a smokescreen to draw attention away from the real issues. But I think people have caught on. There's a lot of that going on I believe right now --

If the site of the 3rd high school were such that High Meadow and River Run were to be pulled from NVHS , they most likely would be just as upset as some in TG, WE , Ashwood , Owen or Watts are about a change to their current situation.
My point is that no one should be too harshly judged on how they react to this situation. Unless you are in someone's shoes you just don't know their personal reasons why they chose to live where they live and chose to send their kids to the schools they chose to do as well.
Many families picked to live in Naperville and send their kids to NVHS based solely on the scores of NVHS as published in the State's listings. Now you ask them to switch their kids to a school farther away with a lower score...you can't blame them if they are upset. That change may affect their property values too, adding salt to their wound.
Honestly, when I read these statements from MM and from Howie it reminds me just how off base this whole situation really is.
They did on several occassions tie ( in writing and verbally) the boundaries and site to the passage of the referendum and yet people are having to defend their unhappiness with the DRASTIC change.
In the end, I am happy to go to NV or WV, but I truely believe this whole situation should have been avoided and the school board has lost the trust of many with how this has changed so drastically from what was voted on.
It is not the end result that is upsetting; it is the process and revelations of mis-information and half truths along the way that have put a very bad taste in most people's mouths.

Yep, the whole labeling game is a smokescreen to draw attention away from the real issues. But I think people have caught on. There's a lot of that going on I believe right now -- Just think back to the meeting on 1/22 when the site was selected. Total smokescreen, in my opinion. Shame those against the site from speaking with the so called 30% anti WVHS feedback. C'mon, does anyone even believe that percentage. Doesn't it fit their agenda too well? Now that I look back, it was SO ORCHESTRATED it's frightening. They put the shame onto the community instead of themselves for being in this situation today. I went up to the board after the meeting to speak about the way in which the commentary from the community was presented by the board. I was very upset. One board member I spoke with understood my concerns and listened to me. Yet another, asked me to personally apologize for the commentary. That meeting was orchestrated to shut people off from commentary against what was going to be rammed down our throats. Hey, just my opinion. Maybe I feel that way because I was asked to apologize for something I didn't do. Or, it could be because I live in the Fry attendance area, you know the "evil ones" in the community.

Macy, I couldn't agree more with your last statement. Once again boundaries consume most and they miss the big picture. I voted no to the ref. because I had a gut feeling that the mess we are in today would happen. I asked MM several times what would happen if we don't get the land. NO plan B and that they extra funds were built into the ref. I didn't believe him. I thought how irresponsible. Now they have our money and can build this HS and set boundaries and give the public little say.

Too far away and yet folks less than 1/4 mile from my home are being asked to do that (Owen west). It's all crazy!

If only those were my choices - as they should be Yes... ME TOO, if it meets the established criteria set the the board/adminstration with no evidence of gerrymandering. Just look at what is going on with the city of Naperville, Park District and IDOT over the bridge? I've heard some stuff over the last few days that really turns my stomach. What the heck? It stinks, badly and has many people questioning the leadership of the district. We need to slow down, relook at the site, etc.

Thought this was an interesting post in the Sun Blog ISPD 204 has crossed the boundary line so to speak. The latest fiasco includes: 1) executing nothing that was voted for in the 2006 referendum (the location, boundaries, and cost proposed by the district have all changed begging the question - is this legal?), 2) new boundaries developed in part to address academic balance and create the "new WVHS" - an academic juggernaut - actually generate lower academic average than today, 3) the district went "out of its way" to "knee cap" one of the neighborhoods by trying to kill off an IDOT-approved pedestrian bridge over route 59 - implying it was unsafe in a letter with the new borders announcement - blatantly to help support moving about 525 students to WVHS - many who will be walking to NVHS this spring over that very same bridge - a slap in the face of reason where one would think that walking is a green, healthy lifestyle and safe (keeps kids off the buses), 4)the coordination of the transportation study data was performed by a person who had a vested interest in the outcome - who lives closer to a new destination school than any person in the "knee capped" development, 5)the bus times appear to be a total fluke based on many parents own assessments all over the district like buses needing to travel 100 miles per hour to make the district projected trips work, left turns over railroad tracks expected to have 30 more trains per day with the CN purchase of the EJ&E tracks, 6)the continued use of Laidlaw as both an excuse and an implied independent information source when Lailaw has a vested interest in keeping its bus contract with ISPD 204 and will always do as 204 asks - example "here's what we want to do ... will it work?". ISPD obviously choses to ignore the fact that Laidlaw Bus Tranport is in the business to make money and that charging the district based on routes actually makes them more money, 7) assuring that WVHS (3000) will be bursting at the seams with overcrowding now that the WV Gold campus gets turned into a middle school...while NVHS has a Gold campus (1600 nameplate capacity), NVHS main campus (3900), Frontier campus (600) sit under-utilized, 8) the continued promoting of massive growth in the district and in the south specifically at schools like Builta that was built ...ahhh... to house 1075 students and actually houses 705, a decrease from the prior year, overall district elementary school population is dropping 1.4% overall, and 6-7% drops in lower elementary grades - a sign of an upcoming accelerated decline of students in the district due to a maturing population (this was always known but not shared), 9) the continuation of a rumored secret plan to eventually close WVHS - a perfectly fine structure, that with proper care, can last another 100 years, As a result, there are plans afoot to explore overturning the 2006 referendum, and those folks who wish to join the cause will find out soon enough how you can participate. The next referendum will require the following: A)the full building cost including principle, finance and operating costs, B)the location - fixed and firm with a contract in hand contingent upon approval, C) a reference to a boundary map that cannot be changed for X years with referendum language like "with boundaries as set out in document 123 published on the the district website", D) will reduce transportation costs by at least 25% (or similar), and reduce transportation safety risk by X% as determined by an independent third party transportation consultant, E) will address long-term demographic trends, as determined by a third party independent demographic consultant, to assure that building capacity will meet projected student population where they live, to reduce transportation safety risk, and F) use geograhic proximity as the highest priority to assure parental involvement, local community spirit, and high academic performance. The district should keep this in mind as they burn money on further lawsuits from BB property, the expected environmental matters related to the Midwest Power Generation site, and parents of children who clearly will be unsafe with the current plans - and for those who do not understand this issue of bus transportation, hurried teenagers driving longer distance in rush hour traffic, etc., take a look at the following link - it's a reinactment: www.youtube.com/watch?v=mDHAK99pUB4
