I left that meeting feeling that I was entitled to better leadership.

Is that supposed to be some kind of defense for making a comment like that? He get alot of e-mails from upset residents, and an appropriate reaction for the newly appointed president is to accuse certain residents being elitists during a public meeting? Seriously? That's the leadership standard we're shooting for? I don't care what people in this district sent to the SB - there is simply no defense for responding in the way they did. I am sure they're only human (allegedly) but they have a responsibility to rise above the fray not join it. Or actually listen and try to solve it in partnership w/ the people who are upset. That would have been a nice option to consider. "I agree with much of what you said, but I wanted to point out that the "elitist" label came from Dr. Daschner at the start of the boundary meeting. He said this prior to any public comment."Snerdley........the board had been reading emails from the public for a whole week!!!! I thought I heard there was over 1000 emails sent to the board. based on potluck and other boards I can see where his comment came from.....

Are you referring to the meeting when Dr. D's opening statement declared that the tone of the email responses signaled an attitude of entitlement? He has proven to lack any awareness of our community and sensitivity to the wounds that were still healing after the 2006 boundary fiasco. He marched right in and rippedd off the bandage and poured salt in the wound by having us slice and dice boundaries for land we did not own, once again. June 2010 cannot get here soon enough. so is that the reason for the rush ? To fulfill the Dr D legacy ? Someone please tell me this can't be true

I frankly would drive to Matea if it meant my kid will not have to go to school with 4999 other kids. If they could find a way to provide the classroom space, is there really any difference in extra curricular opportunities between NV at 4200 and NV at 4999? I still think we need a third high school but in Daeschner email earlier in the week he talked about the extracurricular opportunities. I don't think that message applies to the kids at NV. I was talking to a friend in Patterson and he told me as much. There are cuts in EVERY sport now at NV; have been for the last 2 years; some of the middle-of-the-road kids can't get a chance never mind the "nerds". They are adding yet ANOTHER lunch period at 9 something in the am to handle the kids in school next year. Let's not even start this crap again. WTF

Doesn't these enrollment projections make it even more difficult to fill that northern school? If the enrollment is going to top out at about 9000, then three 3000 student HS are great. NVHS can lose it's freshman center and we can sell a MS w/ it's land. But now you have to move more out of NV to WV and more out of WV to MV for this all to work. So what are the new boundaries for MV...95th St? and Plainfield goes to WV? We may set some kiind of record for distances traveled!? This is why the Eola site is the wrong site. We will eat up any savings in transportation costs. Gas prices are not coming down, only up.

‘It is easy to say that Indian Prairie should build a third high school. But that decision was made years ago. At this point, time is too short for the urgent need and land is too expensive. Besides that, even if all those obstacles could be overcome, the ‘third high school’ eventually could end up the white elephant my high school was…[my own high school] opened in 1970, large enough to hold more than 2,500 students, but the enrollment never reached much more than 1,600. Districtwide, enrollment peaked at 12,500 and then began to decline [closing in 1981].The school district tried to sell the building. But for years, it sat there… ut as I’ve listened to the debate around me in the past several months, I’ve thought a lot about what a waste in taxpayer money it all was.

JHB, with the new SB projection 8931 tops in HS in 2013 - what say you now about thi same situation ? 10,400 is /was a pipe dream. This was writting in 2001. Joni has since changed her opinion and has written about it more than once. I'm not going to look up the article.

What I am so surprised about is how the SUN is fueling the fire. Can anyone verify for me the rumor I heard that the editor came from the National Enquirer? Everyone needs to take a pill, for chrissakes.

I used to go to the green boards to get some comparative feedback but I have to admit I'm a blue board elitist through and through. It's like the popular cheerleaders who reign for the short term but in the end are the ones with no depth at all. Their comments are at their high point superficial and at their low point nasty and incredibly revealing. I learn nothing about issues and there is no back and forth, just viscious rhetoric. Even as recently as a two or three weeks ago it wasn't so bad. Ever since the MW land was lost, I suppose, it got much worse. Now the green boards so closely parallel the Sun blogs I wouldn't be able to tell which one I was reading if I didn't know.

People like Jennifer Streder and Chad Martinson are adding fuel to the fire. Yep and just wait until you see them both running for SB . People, these are names we must remember! Imagine the divide for the 204 community with people like these two on the Board. Yikes!

Doc, I heard this several years ago, not from BD. Please! Hye I've seen the 'hit list' on green - I figured they just added Jim Lynch. .... it's paranoia time now anyway because someone other than a PTA president has sent out info & directions to people - what a shock .

Everyone needs to take a pill, for chrissakes. People like Jennifer Streder and Chad Martinson are adding fuel to the fire. So its ok to file a lawsuit, but its not ok to speak out publically? Whats that about? I support Chad and Jennifer just simply for not filing a lawsuit. I would rather my children see someone speak out than run for lawyer - sorry, but I feel they are better role models. And speaking of role models, I actually know Jennifer and she puts in more volunteer hours for this District than most; she donates time, money, energy and she is willing to speak when askd. She is a huge WVHS supporter - were you aware of that? Where are the others? Sitting in the back of school board meetings, writing on blogs and doing what for our schools? Not much. I don't honestly agree all the time with Jennifer or any of the PTA Presidents, but I am darn glad they are there to do so much for our schools and I have to support them for that. AND when they do have an issue with the schools, they work at creating relationships and dialogue and work with them, they don't sue them. I know - an oddity in this community, huh? I'm just tired of volunteer bashing - the SB, the PTA folks ... get off the blog and go volunteer and we will all be better off. My 2 cents for the day.
