That being said, it is very hard for many of us to let go when there has been such a grave and apparently calculated injustice done and when the hole reason for looking for other property was to save money and we likely won't AND it's an inferior site. Sorry that we can't just let it go and move on. I believe way too strongly to just sit back and watch it all happen. I appreciate and understand your comments. I just wish it could be done in a way that doesn't divide our community. What suggestions do you have to accomplish this? The District and SB have turned a deaf ear to concerns - over and over again. Were you at the boundary meeting where they were asked by at least 15-20 speakers to slow down? Did they listen then? What about last Monday's meeting with the revised EOLA site - I heard the same request but their answer was that we can't wait another minute. What will it really take to get that accomplished?

You know it. ETA: Except instead of a star it's a school that's off again, on again. You guys don't learn from history I guess...or you didn't read the last chapter of that book. Some sneetches ended up with 2 stars and some with none, but they all were dead broke. And the star making machine guy left town with all the money. So, you're saying it was an appropriate book choice . So which set of attorneys does the guy with the machine represent?

I don't know who made the sign and that is not the point I wish to make. What troubles me if that if a person(s) decided to make a sign and post as an act of kindness it ashame that he/she felt that need to sign it South Resident. If you are making a kind gesture to a church and cannot attach your name, that is too bad. I hope our community is not becoming a North vs. South. When I go to visit my friends in Oakhurst, Ginger Woods, Harris Farm, Stonehaven, Concord Valley, and I could go on (yes most of my friends are in the North), I may need to wave a flag that I come in peace. Sad thing is that my friend from "The North" just made a joke about that the other day and I am starting to believe her and that is where we are headed if something does not change. Maybe we need to agree as a community to omit the words North and South from our vocabulary. It is getting old and non-productive. I find this quote amusing and disturbing at the same time. Personally, I can't tell a southside parent from a northern one just by looking at them. At the gas station, grocery store or mall, I cannot tell the neighborhood of one person from another. Maybe it's just me. Maybe my north and south radar is down. This is beginning to sound like the Suess book about the sneetches! ETA: quote box issues. SSM, I agree with your post. I'm just reaffirming that the north v. south stuff has gotten a little out of hand. just ask the SB for your radar update 204.2.1 , they will tell you how to tell the difference, as they seem to have endless opinions on it. In the gas station: The South siders will have 'ritzy' cars, the north siders are the ones smiling ear to ear right now while they're putting in their gas, and the Watts residents are the ones that have to borrow money for gas it appears in their opinion, and are just lucky to have anyone include us.

The machine is "the machine" and everybody and their aunt Nana Hazel will be collecting from us the tax payers for decades to come. Actually, I declare the SB and Dash as the enablers who allowed the machine to ramp up and send out referral signals to other people looking for an easy mark (SD204). Did you also notice that in this story, many residents also ended up with NO practical and safe school for their years of huge tax bills paid? How is that fair? When the judgements come through and the tax increases occur, finally everyone will realize the mistake that was made. I don't even want to think about the other liability that we have if we proceed with construction of the school on unsafe lands. A 20% increase in the tax bills will hit everyone, including those in the north, the south war-zone, and also the south unaffected areas. What will the Springbrook residents say about that when they thought they were unaffected. I can't wait to hear JHB's column after that happens......

Very good, Doc! I'll have to try that one out next time I fill up. As for the update, I'd rather keep the old version. More my style.

I just bought some "ritzy" gas today for $3.75/gallon. How much cheaper is it up by the oil wells near AME? Next on the SB agenda...lets subsidize the littles sisters and brothers of the poor that live in Stonebridge and other Naperville neighborhoods in the MVHS attendance area. God said it should be so.

Perhaps, but perhaps, NSFOC will be dismissed, damages on BB wil be just as the SB expected and only be for attorney's fees and the site at Eola will cotinue to be a safe site for the rest of its existence.

( We know we can't be given the closest - we wouldn't deserve that ) -

Rural, I hope that you're right, but if you're not it is going to be financially painful for everyone. Entering into another contract with litigation pending on another parcel was a stupid gamble for the SB to take with OUR money and there is no way around that fact. And for those few people that didn't care about building on a questionable site, I'm glad they were given a wake up call. It would have been ridiculous in terms of perception and PR for the district and I'm glad someone had the good sense to call the SB out on it.
Having said that, we now have a signed contract on AME, and what's done is done. We will either get lucky and pay only for the cost to have attorneys fight for something we didn't really intend to buy, or pay $146M for the school we voted for, plus another $60M for being complete and total idiots.
So now my question is about the future. Because I'm too lazy to look back in the archives, what's the difference between:
1) the ES who would have attended MV at BB 2) the ES who will attend WV in the new scenario of MV at AME
I say that those of us new to WV need to do what others couldn't. We need to be honest about what is up with the school, and think about what we can do to help improve not just the perception but the actual reality.
Could we in force seek to change the format of the school from traditional to charter school innovations?

Yeah, I guess. I'm just trying to get a better idea of what the big difference would have been between a MV at BB and WV with MV at Eola. I remember seeing a list of ES and their rankings, and how they were distributed with MV at Eola vs. MV at BB but I can't remember where it is.
