A simple question with lots of emotions. You're moving in to the area summer of 08. Would you choose to live in D204?

A do-over? I'd take that in a heartbeat.

No - not necessarily because of the whole drama of the new school, but now that we really know the area I feel there are other places where we can achieve equal or better benefits for the cost.

That's a tough question. 204 is still a good value, and Naperville is a great town with alot to offer. I think that what is going on with this SD is probably not that different from other similar areas, and I think we frankly expect too much. This is a pretty typical public school framework, with typical leadership and typical attitudes. There may be more opportunities for some kids in certain areas due to the size of the district, but this isn't any better education than anywhere else. The schools are run the same way, the classes are scheduled in the same manner, we don't have any better teachers or administrators than in other areas. It's public school. The considerations I'd make if I had a do-over would revolve around the size of the town I chose to live in, traffic, location, and maybe small town vs. large town pros and cons. Honestly I would reconsider living in the state of IL if I had a do-over!

I'm sorry to say this to the people who are from here. I know it's people like me who come stay a while and move away after a time. I like it better when there is a good mix of everything (low income, middle, and up) at the schools. My 2 youngest grew up too fast here. my youngest asked where are all the old people when we first moved here she says she doesn't ever see any...

When you go up to the northern suburbs you see many more old people. We have a very good mix of people in my neighborhood which I like. It is mixed racially, mixed in age, and mixed in gender. It feels like a neighborhood.
