Since others elsewhere seem to have taken to their psychiatrists chairs to explain what many on blue want- or how 'simple' the issues are - want to start a thread that is actually what we want.
This knowing that some things we would have wanted - like a vote on school site - a different site -- re investigation on new population figures on need etc- all are not going to occur. Proverbial water under the bridge - as is how we got here as a district - this thread should deal only with the here and now and going forward.
I welcome anyone else's input also - but to all the Freud's out there, it's not just boundaries people.
Here's what I want -
1/ make sure pipelines are replaced and latest safety valves / equipment installed - and actually have the Illinois EPA do a 'complete' study on other issues at the property - better yet US EPA
2/ full transportation study - costs included for the new MS and HS locations and release those findings. Should now include expected impact from Eola interchange and recommended plans
3/ Independent expert ( there are firms out there that do just this) to come in and assign school boundaries based on facts - costs and not emotion or connections
4/ Open the 3rd High school when all is deemed safe and open it complete - full HS experience for those kids day 1 - do they not deserve that ? Does any one child here deserve less ? They get one chance at this - period.
Is that asking too much ? Is that only boundaries ? And I would want these regardless of where my child or any others were assigned - it is not a in my back yard only list.
btw - I could not attend yesterday but am glad to see the level of work being focused on the curriculum and results in 204. I have been fortunate enough to have seen some of what is being looked at - and I understand this is being spearheaded by Dr Daeschner. In fairness - I commend him on this effort ( wish I was still involved to give input - especially with some additional perspective now- although I will find a way to do so) - and wouldn't it be nice if that's all they had to be working on.
