Very interesting and it all makes sense. I do believe Dr. McKenzie was the one who brought about the freshman centers. I still remember being literally shocked that when McKenzie 'retired' the Board just appointed Howie without a search.

I never liked Howie. He started this whole new school thing that turned into a mess and left right in the middle of it. His reason for leaving according to an acquaintance of mine who knew him was he was tired of the negative feedback from a certain area when BB was first proposed. Howie may have loved the district as I have heard some say but he was a lousy superintendent and started this SD on the road to disaster. had some interesting discussions after he left ( he ran a few events at Naper Settlement) - but remember Howie set up the freshman centers and also had the group together that determined the HS attendance would top out at approx 8900. The issue is I believe he was bullshitted to and bullied by a certain board member about what needed to be done - and to ignore the NV $12M expansion because that board member hated a certain area of the district and a builder that resided within in. This is the period where the board became all powerful and abusive of their authority ( a few members did- most others just intimidated ) - and not only did Howie leave- so did other board members who got sick of the bullshit that was going on. Those seats then got filled with lackeys Howie needed to tell a few of them to F off-- he knew better- he just couldn't enforce it, it seemed like to me Yes I remember when BR quit. That was a blow I felt. He left at a critical time and would have stood up to MM I believe. I could see where he was worn out by the BS. I was also curious about BG. When BB was first being proposed he was very enthusiastic but later when Eola was chosen he seemed like a beaten man and it seemed to be he was just looking to just getting it over so he could quit. I never could figure out what brought about the change. I also never realized why JC was so powerful.

BG got called out for being a liar by his neighbor during public comment.
It was classic.

BG got called out for being a liar by his neighbor during public comment. It was classic. I have to be honest, that was one of my all-time favorite SB meetings. I almost, ALMOST, felt sorry for BG. It was clear he was a beaten man at that time. I still remember the line "which is it, are you lying to me now are were you lying to me then?". As you said, classic. I only wish citizens would have come forward and taken MM down in the same method. Because of King Metzger's power he's always survived unscathed and I don't understand why. He's the Michael Madigan of the SB that's for sure. Even though he's retiring, don't fool yourself, he'll still wield power.

BR tried to stand up and take on the all powerful and was just 'done' by the time he left ( and appeared here a few times in person - as well to share his opinions) - and BG was just used. He didn't realize he was manipulated until it was too late. The old guard - MM-JC used him for what they wanted then discarded him like an old shoe. They sure as hell didn't want a banker aorund to gum up the works when they bought land without an appraisal and severeyl overpaid for it-- and when the financing decisions came to light. This pack of liars brought down some 'good people' as well duping the general public

This pack of liars brought down some 'good people' as well duping the general public maybe it's just me but I sure see a lot less large SUV's here than even 2-3 year ago when pulling up to schools and sporting events. On the other hand when I drive to LaGrange 4 days a week to drop off my daughter for VB- the large SUV's seem more abundent. Then again by some recent logic since they only see a relatively small difference at the pump when they fill up - you know, in the greater scheme of things, why would they be upset. Remember these are the same people who have moved on from a SD whizzing away $150M because they only see a small hit in their tax bill ? Maybe these people could be buying groceries with the difference, but when they are at the gas station they are only buying gas. Now I'm surprised I really don't see moreExplorers and Tahoe's I'm starting to see how the logic works
