BD is one of the communities we are looking to move to in the near future. With one going to college in a year and my daughter heading off to MS, we are ready to make some changes and we have always considered BD high on our list, and it still is.

That's great! Love to have you! I think you'd like BD. We've made such a connection here over the years. For MS Hill is fantastic. The principal Mike Raczak is so invested in excellence that he makes it happen there. Good luck with that decision!

If I remember correctly, BD was a 'NO' last year and I was surprised by that. I was a yes and most of my friends were....although some were a reluctant yes.
As to area factors....to be honest, when we moved here years and years ago, this was our first home and it was what we could afford that had 4 bedrooms and more than one bathroom! We would have liked to have been closer to Chicago for work, but what we could afford would not have allowed for any 'family' expansion. Pros.....or why we stay....location, location, location, ES and MS, close to train and 88, not far from O'hare or Midway, and for me, the people. I have lived ALL over the country and have never felt community like I do in BD. I am sure other subdivisions have that too. When we moved here, we didn't even look at the school district or test scores. Simply the fact that my kids could go to school in their own neighborhood until 8th grade was enough for me. The fact the schools ended up being very good was icing on the cake. Most of the people in Naperville would probably move out of the school district I was raised in but I went on to college, got a master's degree and functioned quite well in the work force. Cons: other than the traffic and weather when it is brutally cold, cant think of much.

I think you are right, BD was a NO last April, don't remember what percentage though. There were many YES and reluctant YES that I knew of. Reluctant primarily due to not enough information was my impression. Voter turnout was so low across the district in April. That's what surprised me the most. I don't know what the turnout was in BD specifically.

Mostly Pros for Naperville/Aurora. One con might be that things are too crowded in general (not just schools!). By this I mean, parking downtown, getting seated in a restaurant etc. Not a huge deal though. Still a great area!!! Another con for me is distance/ease of going to Chicago. It's nice to have a buffer from the big city but going downtown or into the city neighborhood for events does take a lot of effort. Sometimes the train works depending where you want to go. Chicago has so much to offer, I'd do more if it were easier.
