And besides, if that's true, and Metea moves into new land there, and land is freed up, I heard that it allows for a large big box retailer to move in? Yesterday it was a tire factory. So what is going in there? ETA: It would be unfair of me not to tell you I contacted my alderman here in Aurora. There will not be a tire factory or any type of manufacturing on that land. The Comp. Plan does not list any manufacturing in that area and the council would not approve it when there are plenty of industrial parks located in the city. The word he used was rumor.

This commentary is wrong: "One good thing came out of this court battle; we now know the 25 acres of land the district already owns at Route 59 and 75th Street is worth $518,000 per acre or just under $13 million.: dahhh...if this is the case, BB would buy back at lower cost... Are you going to bet six million dollars on that? Where are we going to get six million if they do not? Why would they help us walk away from a deal that nets them millions of dollars? Why would they buy it back now? I don't see why they can't just watch the value increase and buy it back in the future? Why would they buy it back from the school district after they just sold it to the school district? We need to be certain that they are buying the land back before we go anywhere else or we need to know where to make up the money. Perhaps Macom will be willing to offer 6 million for the land; if BB excercises its option then Macom is off the hook.

What is the "fourth" property? My guesses are BB, Calvary, St.Johns and Macom. I'm not sure exactly where the northernmost parcel the SD looked at was - I know it was near the Warrenville juvenile facility. Any way, just today I saw that the land due west of the Warrenville facility is being improved for something, so if that's what the SD looked at, it's not available now. There's other land farther west up Ferry, though. Maybe that was what they originally looked at?

Its a bit far from Route 59 for a big box retailer in my opinion. Besides it is still zoned residentail. If you want to complain about a big box retailer being there you will have your opportunity when they put in for rezoning.

There is still a lot of open land up here in the North. Personally I think anything N/O I-88 is too far north.

And besides, it's really up to 1 main board member, if JC wants it, it will happen. I haven't seen her not get her way? iirc she had a very strong opinion regarding the boundaries that did not come to pass

I say sell it, and quick. Have an open house. If the district added that $13 million to the $124.6 million the taxpayers already approved, that's $138 million the district has to spend on its third high school. .... I wish the editor had done some fact checking before printing this part. Or better yet, I wish Bryan had come to this site and learned the facts on this proposal himself I personally invited Bryan to visit and participate on this board back when he was an early runner for school board - he, uh, declined.
