Henry Clay's Missouri Comprise of 1820 was a political compromise to address underlying social disunity. Sen. Clay was trying to buy time for our adolescent Republic to grow and "figure it out in the future." I hope our compromise works out better than that one.

Who in the world would be voting on this matter "across the country" ? LOL!!! Why wouldn't they? I'm on e-mail lists that include people all over the country and even in other countries. If this particular vote mattered to me it would be easy to send something asking my friends to vote a certain way and please forward to their friends. I've seen it happen for all kinds of other issues where people vote. Vote for my kid in such-and-such newspaper, or vote for my entry in something and I would do this for my friends, they would do it for me. Come on....

Who in the world would be voting on this matter "across the country" ? LOL!!! I think some didn't like the way the voting was going (because they assume there are just one or two people out here who would like to explore other sites and were all with CRAFT - gasp), so they got busy last night. I can think of better ways to get busy Hope you guys had fun!!! I already answered why it could happen, but amazing to see your change of position when the vote is the other way -- yet when the YES vote jumped in a few hours it was because of the 'majority' -- you can't have it both ways. So if it's a YES vote it's valid - if it's a NO vote it's invalid -- got it My opinion hasn't changed. I think there are alot of people in 204 who would like to look at alternative sites.

Read back through this thread along with some of the other longer ones. It comes up over and over..... Also, how about the comment that the people in Ashwood had won the lottery? This kind of stuff is just starting to look like alot of whining. It seems to rear it's ugly head when it might be useful to some. That's what I think. Why should the district not look at other available land? Why is that SUCH a threat to some? Just because a subdivision is mentioned doesn't imply that there's a great war running within 204. I don't see people making blanket statements here about subdivisions or "north" or "south", other than a few nut-cases. One might argue that the location of the 3rd high school (and the related boundaries), regardless of location, will benefit some more than others. And some people will prefer to be in the group that benefits the most, arguing For or Against BB. Bottom Line: If it looks like someone's main motivation is it's-all-about-me-and-I-don't-care-what's-best-for-the-district, then they may very well be called out, regardless of where they live or who they are. And that won't be a generalization - it will be a targeted call-out. Nut cases? And you wonder why there isn't love and harmony!

Looks like the poll got taken down.
Maybe their server couldn't handle the hits.

Nut cases? And you wonder why there isn't love and harmony! Yes, Nut cases. And you're right, when they are very vocal there isn't any love or harmony which is part of the reason as to why they get labeled that in the first place.

Yes, Nut cases. And you're right, when they are very vocal there isn't any love or harmony which is part of the reason as to why they get labeled that in the first place. Perhaps you should join that "unity committee." I have. I was a NO that turned YES before the referendum vote after a very long and thorough sifting through both sides of the coin, the other 'options' and 'ideas' and created a few new sides to that coin along the way. I'm already on board, have a child at WVHS; love it there and have 3 more in the queue in middle school and elementary school grades. Now, if the 'unity committee' is defined as those who want (in most probability) more expensive land with far more unanswered issues and questions than the BB site then maybe I'm not really on board. Want me on board? That will be when Macom comes to the table with the land certified for holding a high school, the powerline issues resolved and the traffic concerns that a high school will create (compounding the already nasty traffic condition in that area) worked out with the city/county and state; not to mention a price that is reflective of the real market rate and not some pipe-dream pricetag. I'm very easy to please.

I'm just curious - if Macom came back with anything, would the public even know? The SB kept us in the dark before, for all we know we're still in the dark.

What exactly are you disagreeing with or not understanding here? I really tried to think up a non-smart-a$$y response, but I was unable to think up one. Sorry

Are you mad about not knowing who the candidates for Super are?
