Hi all,
I've been reading all your posts and have never posted before.
Thanks for all the informative information everyone has put forth so far.
I was at a neighborhood party tonite and heard that there is more to the story than we know about the Ashwood Boundary inclusion to the quick take legislation. Could be that the information was complete bull, but seemed pretty credible, the source was reliable.
Is there any way we can find out the names of the people who are the lobbyists for the Ashwood Builders? or those that are consultants for their interests???
Is there any way to find out who is on their payroll and pushing for the interests of the Ashwood subdivision? If so, it might be very interesting.
Could be a rumor, but it's very, very, troubling.
We need that information.
anyone know how to dig that up?

Well, my wife got this message from AT today. Also Eagledad says that he confrimed the story with the senator herself.
Although the story seems unbelievable it appears to be true.
Begin forwarded message:
From: JMetzger1@aol.com Date: August 6, 2007 12:44:11 PM CDT Subject: Important Please Read
Hello everyone. I hope you'll take the time to read the following and not delete. This is not spam.
Mark has asked me to contact everyone I can think of to help get the attention of our local Senator, Linda Holmes, regarding passing the bill through the Illinois State House and Senate in order for Indian Prairie School District to acquire the land to build Matea Valley High School. Last week, Senator Holmes signed on as co-lead sponsor of the bill. Then she called the school district's lobbyist in, showed him the approved boundary map for the high school, pointed to the Ashwood Park and Ashwood Creek areas slated to attend Waubonsie Valley and she said these kids deserve to go to Neuqua Valley or she doesn't move the bill. She does not believe that our community thinks these boundaries are important.
This is where we need your help today: Senator Holmes needs to hear from us, as Indian Prairie parents/residents, that these boundaries are important, in order for her to move the bill out of the Committee tomorrow. She needs to keep out of the boundary issue that has already been decided.
Please take a few moments today to call her two offices and identify yourself as an Indian Prairie parent. Tell her the boundaries are important as already decided and the bill needs to move out of the Executive Committee. The phone numbers are:
217-782-0422 815-609-3711
Feel free to forward this email to any neighbors and your spouses at work.
Mark and I really appreciate any phone calls you can make today!
Judy Metzger

We need that information. anyone know how to dig that up? Welcome Newbie!!! It makes sense now to me why Senator Holmes told me that she was never approached by Paul Lehman or a lobbyist on behalf of Macom...She was playing with words. You and others have clarified that the lobbyist is paid for by the Homebuilders Assn. working on behalf of Ashwood and its' builders and have very much been in contact with Senator Holmes from the sound of things. The bottom line is that it is not the legislators place to second guess a process that already occurred. Whether you are in favor of the boundary outcome or not, the process should not be subject to change 2 years later based on who has the most money and influence to get in front of her face. Macy and Newbie are both onto something here. I agree there is more to this story and from what I have heard so far , it sounds like slimy politics. For those who say, forget QT and just wait until the trial. My fears are that the SB anticipates delay strategies on the part of the BB attorneys during the trial and do not want to jeopardize losing this construction season as a result. They need to have certain aspects of construction completed by around November in order to not lose out on the construction season. Time is of the essense Senator Holmes!

I was told that in fact the senator had just fielded calls from about 100 homeowners in the subdivision (are there even that many there?) and that she was never going to be involved in changing the boundaries, she was just listening to what her constituents said. She is apparently presenting the bill today. We'll see won't we?

Has the school District hired any lobbyists? How much have they spent on lobbyists? Is everyone ok with our tax dollars being used in this fashion?

This isn't about the SD and their possible lobbyist. It is about the possiblilty that a group of homeowner and/or home builders hiring lobbyist to put pressure on a State Senator to change HS attendence boundaries.

If the lobbyist can help dollars come to the district, it's a good thing. Ya gotta spend money to make it....applies (sort of) to Governemental agencies too.
