The church would dig their heels in just as hard as BB. Also, condemning church land is, in my opinion, not a good thing to do. I will also home school my kids or move from the district before I send them to a HS located next to an electrical substation. Sorry, but EMF is not benign. If you are talking about the church site. The power lines are waaay back, close to the EJ&E tracks. I think there are power lines closer to NVHS than that, the Distribution center in also next to Diehl and the Tracks, a 1/2 mile away at least..... I believe the power line comments are geared towards MACOM and the substation that woul dhave to be moved.

If you own a computer, a microwave, a cell phone etc. or have any electrical wiring in your house, then one is surrounded by EMF in varying levels. It doesn't just come from overhead or underground wires or substations. EMF/power lines/ substation don't worry me. But, I have seen people absolutely freak out about high power lines. No matter what science has said about them. Some people have in their minds that power lines are highly dangerous to live by.

The community didn't vote on BB. They voted on a third high school. So if we're sticking to facts, let's get that one straight. And who knows what the "majority" wants at this point. Have you taken a poll? I think plenty are concerned that we were led to believe that BB could be more easily aquired (not to mention the price) than what it has proven to be. And unless you are a mind reader, you can't read mine. So since your not into "judging motives", perhaps you shouldn't judge mine. Don't play games here. The boundaries and the BB location were very much a part of the final vote on the 3rd high school. Your posting history tells me alot about your motives; I need not read your mind....just your posts Who's playing games? The boundaries and the location were NOT on the ballot. Your posting history is also revealing.

Wow! What a discussion! Unfortunately not new... Lacy, I think you are absolutely correct in saying that the community did NOT vote on BB. They voted for a 3rd high school. However, they really voted for the boundaries. If the community REALLY just wanted a 3rd high school they would have been screaming for a plan B long ago. I am personally open to ANY alternate location. I am also totally opposed to over spending (by at least double IMO) for BB. Therefore, I am vocally opposed to QT. Unfortunately, it is BB at all costs and always has been. justme, I too would be open to an alternate location if it could produce an opening any sooner than BB. I just don't see any other alternative at this point that could do that. We can all bicker back and forth about the past and what decisions should and should not have been made, but it is a waste of energy IMO. What we need to focus on now is getting our kids into better learning environments; less crowded middle and high schools. Like Momto4 said, we all win with 3 high schools and I for one am sick of the self-serving motivations of some who &*%ch and moan at every turn because they didn't get what they wanted. They would love nothing more than to see BB fall through (even if it means years added to an opening of a 3rd hs) because it means they have a chance to stay at their prescious NVHS! ok, I said it! We all need to get over which building our kids attend and get this darned building built. I am modifying since reading Harry's posts; IMO Macom is out of the question. I had hoped it would work but as a parent was totally turned off by the Comm ED substation. I don't think any of us would want children attending classes next to that or the railroad tracks. Your thoughts? It's worth pointing out that statements such as this are tolerated, but SS Mom's comment was not.

what North side property is that ? And Macom is also significantly higher than $257 - or is that OK because it is not BB ? Yes, the SB was up front and said they had room built into the referendum to go higher on BB -- so how exactly do you want them to proceed to get the deal done ? Do you have a magic bullet that makes the BB estate close the deal ? And if I get a choice between north side and MACOM, it would be north side without question.... if we had to leave BB WVP -- you can thank me any time ;D I want them to be fiscally responsible with our tax $$$$ Find a new location now that is NOT $565.0/acre and a parcel that can be dug into this Fall Surely you can think of land that meets this critieria Dr W or is it BB at all costs to you as well?? I agree, Harry. I'm just not buying the spin that no other land is suitable or available. I believe other sites just don't suit the agenda of some. (just my opinion) So if the public can be led into believing that only BB will work, then construction can be delayed and any cost for the land can be justified. Meanwhile, are we being sold a bill of goods?

The admin's did not censor the comment, I took exception as did WVHS parent to SS Mom's comment since we both have interest in WV and found it offensive -- you chimed in even though you have no vested interest in WV. If you would have just reacted to this comment, I would have understood why - I did not because it does not involve me. Much like SS Mom says, there are people who do have agendas - and the one mentioned here by MF is a valid one-- if it does not apply to you - then take exception as I have with SS Mom.

Aaahhh, Lacy, you figured it out! One is not allowed to make any comment that can be perceived as negative to WVHS but as far as NVHS - have at it!!! I agree I do think there is a double-standard there.
If anyone, God-forbid, stands up and says they want to stay at NVHS they often are challenged but not so at WVHS. Somehow it's allowed and promoted to say one is happy at WVHS (but not always allowed to say it about NVHS) - big surprise? I think not. There's no doubt that most parents are happy at whatever high school their kids are at and most do not want any change. Can't everyone accept the fact that as parents we are all passionate about our kid's school whether it be NVHS or WVHS.

It is easy to say there are all these others options - I have yet to see one that fits as well, or one that delivers the school any sooner than where we are today.

And could there be a non-specific group that is motivated to get out of WVHS? I attended boundary meetings where this attitude was pretty prevalent. But for some reason pointing that reality out on this board is not tolerated. Unfortunately, I believe it exists (I witnessed it).

I believe there is/was such a group and that the majority of the people in this group do not have kids in high school, and many don't even have kids in middle school yet. They have somehow gotten a negative (wrong IMO) perception of the school. I don't know of anyone who has kids in WV who has been unhappy with it or would want to move to a new school. I am sure there must be some who are unhappy with WV who have experience with the school because any school with more than 3500 kids can't possibly make everyone happy. Just as I am sure there are some unhappy with NV or any other large school.

If Lacy believes that it is the SB's job and the school board believes BB is the best fit then Lacy believes that BB is the best site and they should carry foward with it. It is nice to see that you changed your mind.

Saying one would be happy to stay at a school is far different than we want to stay at any cost to the district as a whole. Not even close to the same thing and this has been well documented. Was there a NV Top Ten ? I don't want to highlight the scenarios that caused this perception, as nothing positive can come from it, but they happened. Any groups from WV saying they will move before they go to another school ? Don't see any builders trying to force boundary changes to stay in WV district - - If you don't see the sensitivity difference than there is nothing I can do to help that. And there was more than one subdivision that threatened to scuttle the vote if they could not stay at NV. This is supposed to be a district - not 3 separate schools -- so the two situations are not the same - sorry.
