same response as before - show us what works and why - and cost. It is easy to say there are all these others options - I have yet to see one that fits as well, or one that delivers the school any sooner than where we are today. That's the SB's job, my friend. One can't create land where it does not exist -- if it is the SB's job - then let them proceed -- next election is April 2009 (unless anyone leaves before then) - plenty of time to get ready to fill a seat if they are that awful.

Yep...cuz her's was directed at one person, and Movingforward's was directed at a non-specific group...They know who they are...... And could there be a non-specific group that is motivated to get out of WVHS? I attended boundary meetings where this attitude was pretty prevalent. But for some reason pointing that reality out on this board is not tolerated. Unfortunately, I believe it exists (I witnessed it). are there some people who want that - yes I believe there are, just as the list from SS Mom provided - there are many agendas. It is prevalent , I do not believe so as boundaries tied to BB leave little wiggle room left without bussing people all over the area anyway. The primary battles were over those who had to leave NV as all the schools just do not fit in there any more. Or am I mistaken over the well documented events that transpired ? In a perfect world all would agree to go to whatever of the 3 schools they end up at -- but we both know that is not going to happen is it. I will say that I would be happy to attend any of the 3 -- who else here is, honestly?

If you are talking about the church site. The power lines are waaay back, close to the EJ&E tracks. I think there are power lines closer to NVHS than that, the Distribution center in also next to Diehl and the Tracks, a 1/2 mile away at least..... If you own a computer, a microwave, a cell phone etc. or have any electrical wiring in your house, then one is surrounded by EMF in varying levels. It doesn't just come from overhead or underground wires or substations. Hey, flouride is great.. so why not have a gallon a day? Call me crazy ("You're crazy!") but unless you know where the threshold is between safe and danger for something..... it's irresponsible to keep adding more to your life.

Right now, the elected representatives have that responsibility. Did the SB make a good faith effort to look at other alternative sites? I'm not convinced of that - they kept secret Macom's offer, and their site analysis during the referendum seemed to me slanted in favor of BB. Are they making a good faith effort now to look at other alternatives? I believe they have a fiduciary responsibility to do that. (Casting aside all agendas - which as you have acknowledged do exist). Do we still need the space they thought we did? I think several posters have raised that question, and I believe it's valid. And if we do, what about the kids who are stuck in the situation right now, that might not ever get relief if the remedy continues to be delayed?

Maybe because they had a non-disclosure.
I guess we can pull the portable out of Scullen.
Just because someone brings it it up doesn't make it valid. Some posters her could spout that the Twin Towers was brought down by explosives planted in the building but it doesn't make it valid.
Please show me where we aren't not crowded. Last year's 1st grade class was the 2nd largest class in the SD.

Aaahhh, Lacy, you figured it out! One is not allowed to make any comment that can be perceived as negative to WVHS but as far as NVHS - have at it!!! I agree I do think there is a double-standard there. Where was there censorship on this or where was someone not allowed to say either thing on here? If other members want to call someone to the carpet for what someone else posts, they can and do all the time about a great many things. Likewise, when you post saying there are some 'rules' about posting that do not exist, I will call you to the carpet on them.

Last year's K class was lower than the SD predicted. ps With that 2nd largest class, there wasn't overcrowding at the ES school level.. Otherwise there would be portables to alleviate that overcrowded position (year 2000 babies don't equal overcrowding for an entire district)

We will see how many students we pick up in the first grade. There was a big jump from that class from K to 1st.
So what was the expected number last year Harry?
Not overcrowded? Try implementing all day K and see what happens.

Last year's enrollment
The K class picks up 10-12% in first grade.
That is sure some blip that has been running for nine years

This restricts learning and some offerings - but doesn't cost $. Like at Hill where some kids are eating lunch in hallways and other types of rooms because there is not room in the lunchroom for everyone. I am sure the Scullen parents can add their stories to this. I have lived through severe overcrowding at Mya Watts before the addition was built on -- severe overcrowding at WV before NV opened -- there were no protables then either - so why are they now the ONLY sign of overcrowding ?

I have lived through severe overcrowding at Mya Watts before the addition was built on -- severe overcrowding at WV before NV opened -- there were no protables then either - so why are they now the ONLY sign of overcrowding ? Here is the reality at Scullen. I can only speak from the school that I know personally. **classrooms are being created in the family room areas (the open areas outside the classrooms) **some gym classes are being held in the hallways **some music classes are being held in the lunchrooms I have also seen that teachers have become much stricter and have a zero tolerance with behavior issues because there are just too many kids to deal with. Teachers are spending a great deal of time making sure the kids are safe when moving from class to class. Sure, some may say their kids are happy at Scullen despite this situation; mine included, but that doesn't mean that this type of learning environment should continue long term. It is unacceptable. To solve this problem, the community voted for a long term solution. Harry, I would suggest that you contact Kathy Kosteck or Ron Hillman to ask for a tour once school starts; be sure you are in the hallways when the bell rings. Email is the best way to contact them I believe. The administrators are spending more time on safety issues than academics- that is the downfall and reality of overcrowding.

Aaahhh, Lacy, you figured it out! One is not allowed to make any comment that can be perceived as negative to WVHS but as far as NVHS - have at it!!! I agree I do think there is a double-standard there. If anyone, God-forbid, stands up and says they want to stay at NVHS they often are challenged but not so at WVHS. Somehow it's allowed and promoted to say one is happy at WVHS (but not always allowed to say it about NVHS) - big surprise? I think not. There's no doubt that most parents are happy at whatever high school their kids are at and most do not want any change. Can't everyone accept the fact that as parents we are all passionate about our kid's school whether it be NVHS or WVHS. Very good point Casey. I would add though that there is a big difference between school pride and entitlement. While some on this board claim there is a 'BB at all cost' attitude, I believe there is, in contrast, a 'NVHS at all cost' attitude . (somehow they feel they are 'entitled' to stay at NVHS) This minority group would love nothing more than for BB to fall through because it increases their chances of staying at NVHS. That , IMO, is short-sighted and selfish .
