tweak 2 to address Wolverine's issue Swap Steck and Watts. If that happened, maybe there would be a way to keep them at Granger and keep Longwood and the satellite locations from Watts at Hill. Watts then to the new middle school. Just a thought. I also wouldn't have any issues splitting from Hill. My biggest issue is the distance to MVHS. All other points are palatable in comparison.

Last boundary go around HC said that about half of White Eagle would be walkers to BB, but 3 out of 4 boundary proposals sent us elswhere. To say now McCarty can't move because they have walkers, just smacks of personal agendas and preferential treatment. I don't get it? For some reason, I thought that they had more walkers than Steck. If say they are 30% walkers, then that is a different story than say 10%.

To say now McCarty can't move because they have walkers, just smacks of personal agendas and preferential treatment. I don't get it? It seems that way, for sure. Certain areas just never get considered for the move. But I think it is more laziness on the part of the board. Or maybe a desire to only irk the schools that were originally pulled from their current HS's to go to MV @ BB. All these schools are the ones hurting today. They were already poised to go to a different HS, whatever it's name was and whereever it was, and now they have had the rug pulled out from under them. It's either a different school name in a similar location or a similar named school in a way-funky location. But it is easier for the admin to find new homes for them because they were already displaced. Not fair, I know and it seems like they didn't even consider any proposals that suggested otherwise.

In the Daily Hearald today, there was another blatent example of press spin - The following is simply untrue. I spoke with Radhika about this quote personally. She did state "I've visited both high schools and I do believe that we are comparing apples to apples when we talk about them. The Neuqua apple is just closer to my home," HOWEVER THE FOLLOWING WAS JUST PLAIN FABRICATED! "I'm sensitive to the fact that other children have traveled farther than us for many years, so maybe it's just our turn."
Makes you wonder what else we are reading that is being "misrepresented"...........
But some parents willing to speak about the proposals also had positive things to say.
Fry parent Radhika Bhandari has two children at the elementary school and chose her home three years ago based on its proximity to both Fry and Neuqua Valley.
She never envisioned her children would end up being bused to Waubonsie Valley, but she said she believes it's a sacrifice her family will make for the betterment of the district.
"I've visited both high schools and I do believe that we are comparing apples to apples when we talk about them. The Neuqua apple is just closer to my home," she said Wednesday. "I'm sensitive to the fact that other children have traveled farther than us for many years, so maybe it's just our turn."

I spoke with Radhika as well as she is a very good friend of mine. She was extremely angry and upset at being misquoted and has since demanded a retraction/correction.
I hope the herald will print the real comments she made as soon as possible.

My issue is not about staying with anyone in particular.(but for my sake it makes 100% sense to keep us with TG) ..it IS about not splitting our middle school considering we are leaving our high school and leaving our middle school. Fix it either by: 1) keeping Owen at WV so Still is not a split school OR 2) by keeping WE at Scullen along with TG and Move Welch I am about keeping our kids from splits. I think White Eagle has been dealt the worst deal in the district, IMO. **change high school **change middle school **enter into a split middle school scanrio. If you are happy that is great, but I know many in White Eagle are very upset about the middle school scenario in combination with the entire package we have been dealt. Okay, I'll see your three points and counter with: * drive to the 3rd furthest HS from our house * attend the 3rd closest MS to our house * now add a 3rd satellite to our ES so that kids will be from the Watts area - as well as Longwood ( 5 + miles away) and Lehigh Station (Rt 59 and the train stattion) Look at the ES map - it's like someone was throwing darts to determine who goes here. ( and was drunk ) * Change High School ES attends * Have our current 8th graders change HS after freshman year to go to a semi-complete HS that will NOT offer all the same things the first year experience wise. * and for our pleasure spend over an hour a day on the bus Some sense of community we are- we're like a bunch of d**n gypsy's now -- everyone travels to get to a place - where they will eventually be sent to a place the furthest away -- I want to know who we pissed off to deserve this ? Winner!!!

Me too as well as many, many friends and neighbors that know her and realize her comments were manipulated! That would be money well spent. The herald for some reason twisted her comments. They owe her not only a retraction, but an apology. Seems to me the press is a little biased and onesided lately. That needs to stop!

You can't post unless you sign up with the Daily Herald and give your info and e-mail. I suppose someone could fake that, but why would they? I suspect that what happened is that the woman whom the reporter interviewed gave her the name of someone else. Typically, reporters don't ask for ID when they're compiling comments from "normal" people. Also, is it my imagination, or was there some touting of the draft plan along the lines of transportation costs remaining pretty much the same? Doesn't seem like there's been much discussion of that lately.
