Excusing me for interrupting the conversation but I was just reading the land recommendation faqs on the IPSD website and I was struck by the statement. The district agrees with and stands behind the public’s desire for it to be responsible stewards of taxpayer money.
I think that says it all right there.
Why isn’t the district proceeding at the Brach-Brodie location?
Given the jury’s verdict, delivering Metea Valley at Brach-Brodie would require eliminating significant features including the pool, auditorium, stadium and/or gym. The district also explored options to build on fewer acres, but representatives for Brach-Brodie rejected offers to purchase fewer acres. The public has been clear in its desire to complete the project within the budget approved by the voters. The district agrees with and stands behind the public’s desire for it to be responsible stewards of taxpayer money.
If this is how the district really feels and today’s Naperville Sun “Winter of Discontent for D204 Residents” states that a poll conducted on the Sun’s website indicated that respondents unhappy with the proposed boundaries out numbered those satisfied with the recommendation by a 3-1 margin then Arch is right – they need to press the pause button. It may be an unscientific poll but it is a poll.
Given these facts, why in the heck would the board rush to push this though? A responsible steward doesn’t say “I don’t care what you want us to do with your tax dollars – we have it now - go away”. A responsible steward would say “I see that two thirds of our taxpayers do not want their tax dollars going to this new site just yet, so as responsible stewards we need to adequately address their concerns" and I am not sure that one can do that in just one or two school board meetings.
Let’s get this right the first time around before we end up paying more for this site than BB. Do we even have the results of the soil samples yet?

Welcome susan, we know there are many like you there, glad you are here now too. Really? You live in the area huh? Too funny! I think you need to remember what your own avatar means. Just as with others (B), your motives are transparent. You want this site to go forward no matter how corrupt the process or what color the kids glow after graduating MV. Hmmm, you are making me smile today.

Sorry for the clip, but I wanted to point out an error.... A 3-1 margin isn't 1/3 approval, it's 1/4 - about a 25% approval rating. I think even Bush has a better rating. When 75% of the respondents are upset, you need to listen. Congrats to Owen East for avoiding the commute from Hades. Well miss you on our 45 minute rides.

Edit: I believe that Kathy Birkett and Karla Zozulia should be suspended (pending dismissal) immediately. We are talking about 2 intelligent professional women who need to be held accountable for their actions. The buck stops with Daeschner. He is ultimately responsible for the misinformation released by the district. BTW, does anyone know if he is protected through the end of his contract or can he be let go before it's up?

I would agree with that statement, everything goes through Dash. You cannot blame people for doing what their boss tells them to do.
RE Dash: You never guarantee someone employment, but he may be guaranteed his salary. If he gets fired, the SB probably has to buy out the remainder of his contract

I mostly disregard the Sun Blog survey ratio, as I'm sure many unhappy bloggers logged in several times to sway it.
