Officials hope the bulk of the building will be done by August 2009, with extras like the pool and auditorium to be completed later. Freshmen and sophomores will move in first. Back to our hoping plan. They sure are wishy washy about the 2009 date. Did you notice how, in 24 hrs, we have gone from pool, to pool and auditorium? And stadium has been mentioned. The list of possibly unfinished items is growing already.

I hate to be bitter brad but I absolutely do not believe 2009. (In know broken record) If this thing gets approved, they should do us all a favor and just take 2009 off the table and shoot for 2010. Let it stand on its merits (or not) without this silliness. How many times must we be moths to a flame before it starts to sink in..... that it burns..

Dist. 204 chooses new Metea site Steve Helm, attorney for the Brodie trust, said the district has taken no formal action yet and it's premature to say it will abandon its rights to the other 55 acres. What does this mean? Is Brodie leaving a door open for some kind of eleventh hour negotiation?

No the next step to walking away from the property would be up to the SD. Helm is saying he has not gotten that word yet.
Does he want to make a counter offer? He better do so soon, and new price has to be near 191k/acre.......

It doesn't have to be near 191K. It just has to be within budget.

Who needs to pay the cost of dismatling the peaker plant? Who pays for the environmental cleanup if necessary?
Just wondering.

Per the papers....Midwest Gen is doing that.

Per the papers....Midwest Gen is doing that. A neat trick energy companies have done in other states is the shell corp game. Make the cleanup entity an asset of the shell (by buying it from the current owner), let it financially hit the dirt and crumble and file for bankruptcy.. all while booking 'revenue' from a 'sale' of the plant to the shell. I doubt that will happen here but if they don't pay then I suppose the taxpayers get that nice bill. What's the date for cleanup and what happens if they do not meet it? Do we pay for it then hope they pay their invoice we send them?

What the heck does this quote from the DH mean?? School leaders say there are no safety concerns with the site. The firm is working toward meeting specific environmental standards, and consultants have determined the school is far enough away from power lines, leaders say. I searched EMFs and schools... some school boards have policies about avoiding power lines etc. One I read fully had a maximum of 2.0mG background at any site. I think AME ranged as high as 7.2mG according to the consultants. I guess this is an issue that each parent will have to look into and decide for themselves. Good old post from rew. a maximum of 2.0mG background at any site

Good old post from rew. a maximum of 2.0mG background at any siteThe Environ report still on the IPSD website shows readings of 7.2 in areas y the northermost boundary, but they mention twice - well students won't be in those areas long. So I guess if you don't have players who will play on those fields - or anyone that's going to attend those games- you can avoid those readings. They also show the typical home range as 1-4 -- www.ipsd.org/Uploads/news_17229_3.pdfeveryone has to decide on their own what they will do on this....
