Doc, should there be a concern regarding these folks spending time to go down to Springfield? The real question is should this have been sent via the district email system; if it's just a bunch of parents going down there.. If I have just a bunch of parents going somewhere, should I be allowed to use the district email-lists to get the word out to try to round up more on short notice? If no... then why not?

The whole state funding concept is messed up. If I understand it correctly, the state looks at how much each district is spending and then bases its contribution accordingly. If a district such as D204 chooses to spend a relatively low amount, it will get more from the state. Assuming this is correct, isn't it logical that the state might look at a district such as D204 and decide that the district should ask for more in taxes from its residents?
I wondered the same thing. If I happen to believe that the district is already too dependent on state funding, and I wish to organize a protest with a bunch of other people, how is that any different than this group?

Possibly because you're not multiple years into being groomed for a School Board appointment.
