Thanks for the link SSDM, I appreciate the chance to read this document in person, I think everyone should.

I did not experience the vagueness that you did, I thought that:
- Permanently canceling the tax hikes
- Freezing Federal Govt hiring at current net levels
- Repealing Obamacare
- Permanently ending TARP
- Returning to pre stimulus budget levels
- Ending Government control of Freddie/Fannie
- Repealing the small business 1099 expense reporting requirements

All seemed quite concrete concepts to me. While they might not be actions that people agree with they are well defined.

Yes this document is not to the level of legislation, but I think this document was structured so normal everyday people (our citizenry) would actually read it, in contrast to the healthcare reform bill that was delivered in 1,990 pages with 24 hours of lead time.

I haven't seen an alternative document with this level of specifics yet from the other party in our current 2-party system. Do you have a link to one?

remember what some of us were told here by the same type of caretakers-- " I guess they couldn't read the ballot- it's not what we said" -- well if they don't give us something concrete to read- then the next vote is really an easy one...not getting burned twice by 'no plan B'

That in itself is one reason things need to change. No one, not even the people voting on it, read the document.

I think I read somewhere that the Glass Steagall Act of 1933 was something like 17 pages long. It served us pretty well for decades, but now it seems every piece of legislation that is passed is thousands of pages long and requires an army of lawyers to write.

New poll finds that 81 percent of Illinois voters say the state is headed in the wrong direction and want change. Sixty-five percent of those surveyed say they support a proposed constitutional amendment to allow for the recall of a sitting governor.

Yep, gonna be interesting in November. Maybe our current government needs to run more vote naked campaigns.

talk about some confused people-- 81% think we're headed the wrong way yet 40% of them today are going to vote to keep the same party and givernor in place ? Why ? Well from phone messages I keep getting on my work line at home because the number must once have belonged to someone in the pipefitters union -- because their union and the AFLCIO is telling them they MUST

See the article I posted in Teachers thread...same old quid pro quo. State and local govt didn't get that $90 billion in stimulus money, and $30 more billion recently, for nothing.
