Yes, and these employees are seeing their expenses rise. Aren't we all... Actually, historically speaking not really (general inflation), which is one of the reasons I have issue with a 4.4% increase in these times. To be honest, my bigger problem is that there is no differentiation at all for performance. It is completely remiscent of a public employee "entitlement" culture in this country that just needs to die already (before it kills the rest of us). It does seem to be on pace with our property tax increases around these parts which never take a break, no matter what the economy, the unemployment rate or how many foreclosed houses, even with a bottom out in the, gee, uh...property VALUES. Funny thing that the two seem to keep pace (district raises and property taxes, the district being 80% of your property taxes). Gee, I wonder if they are somehow related.
