I don't necessarily disagree with anything you've said. But, and I've noticed this in comments from others as well, why is there this constant talk of 6 figure administrative salaries?
Although I'm not a fan of the way the pension systems work for the upper echelons of the SD administration, I do think they deserve their salaries in general. Don't you? They seem to do a lot of work, have a lot of responsibility and are highly educated.
I certianly can not comment on the salaries for the upper levels. But at the doer level I found the pay to be below market. My friend worked for the district for nine years. I can not tell you how many extra unpaid hours were put in. It was also a year round position. My friend impacted the lives of so many kids they can still barely navigate the district without being stopped by graduates.
My friend worked two other jobs just to pay the bills. A few years back the incredibly rich district of 204 was doing layoffs and budgets cuts. More and more hours had to be put in by fewer and fewer staff. There was less money available for necessary equipment. Enough was finally enough and my friend left the district. They now make 3 times as much with much fewer hours. The areas that once flurished with student involvement are now sub contracted out to third party firms.
And that my friends is why when I saw just the orginal court fees I about lost my mind. For anyone on either side of this spitting match... the kids have already lost... PERIOD!!
The thing that p*ssed me off beyond belief was finding out that we are sitting on $91 million in excess op funds. IIRC just 2 years ago we pink-slipped all of the first year teachers and the ES PE teachers due to "BUDGET CONSTRAINTS."
WELCOME to your first year with D204! Oh, and PE teachers here's your slap in the face too. We are trying to scare the public into financial submission with our dire predictions and threats. Sorry if it causes a bit of consternation NOT KNOWING if you have a job or not.
