When it comes to articles about a corporate entity, possible (okay I said possible) pollution, and children... the statement, "All Press is Good Press" does not apply. How many more times do you think MidWest Gen would like its name in the paper surrounded by controversy? This was not what I would call smart ball. We had the exact same conversation in our house last night after the kids went to bed. My husband was like - what, now MWGEN is getting calls from people saying "Sell us your land! We don't think it will make our kids sick!" Huh? How is that not going to backfire? You're right - everytime MWGEN and the Eola site are mentioned in the paper along with the words "environmental concerns" it further cements the association in people's minds. I was thinking about this also, only from a defamation perspective. If the information on the NSFOC website were not truthful, it could be libelous, opening them up for liability to MWGEN. It's a stretch, I know. But something to think about until it's time for Friday cocktails. (had to give it a shot

I seem to recall during the quick take period a picture on the district website of Metzger and others at Holme's office lobbying her for support of quicktake. Well, she didn't support quicktake and from the looks of this she has concerns about the Eola property. If she supported their efforts they would be singing her praises. Turns out they can't push her around so now they go after her. I am very grateful for her careful consideration of these matters and her refusal to be pushed around. I will not only vote for her for re-election, I would campaign for her. And I'm not even a Democrat. It may more than a "bit" of a stretch if you're suggesting the SB "went after" Holmes b/c they might not get their way

I love when people get bent out of shape against Linda Holmes and say they're not going to support her in the next re-election. Guess what? The majority of Naperville is not in her district. She is very far south and west. In fact, she doesn't even represent all of Tall Grass. Her district splits the neighborhood. Luckily, I'll get to support Linda Holmes all the way.
Same thing with Tom Cross except his District starts at 83rd and includes TG, WE, south on 59 and then heads east at 111th including High Meadow, etc. Much of the SD doesn't get to vote for him either.
I do think that much of the Fraud group's phone calls/email, etc. only worked to P*ss everyone off - the senator, the representative, and MWgen. IMO, they cooked their goose ;D.

I think in this case the flood of calls based on the nfraud e-mail would have been construed by Holmes as coming from the "SB" through their proxy. The tactic has been used in the past for quick take

How is it that the fraud group carries any more weight at the voting booth w/either Holmes or Cross?

Per my earlier posts where I agreed with webe, whenever MWGEN/MV/Eola site is mentioned in the paper in an article about environmental concerns, it's a bad thing. Publicity that draws attention to the environmental problems = not good. I don't think the "anti" group "gets it" - that phone calls to Holmes and articles in the paper draw attention to the fact that there are environmental problems and the reports haven't been released.

I can just see it - a big rally on the site to show support. I've got a few sign ideas: We don't want to see the reports! We love the site! It won't make our kids sick! I grew up eating PCBs and I'm fine! Rah Rah sis boom bah! We laugh at cancer - HA HA HA!

You bring up a good point - more media attention raises more awareness of the issues. Several weeks ago, very few people I know knew much about the issues in the district. Now, thanks to articles like this, awareness is being raised. I think that is a good thing in general.

d204mom - Great pic and I like the avatar too. I now get what the "goose" is. The post to which I replied sounded to me like "the fraud group's goose is cooked with Holmes and Cross"

I can just see it - a big rally on the site to show support. See, now I think this would be more like if you got nsfoc and nfraud together at the same time.

Maybe they should stop wasting paper and save the money for their lawyer then.

After all the SB has $141 M at their disposal-- already pissed away $5M - $10 for zero return - but hey that's OK- look at the great site they found us.
