Brad, I apologize.
Sometimes I get pretty worked up over all the SB/Admin conspiracies.

The DH had an article in yesterday's paper "District 204 officially abandons the BB land in court". Quote from Petesch, district attorney " We'll wait for their motions regarding fees and whatever else they add to that." Sounds great, time to add it all up. The hearing is scheduled for March 17...Brach/ Brodie...the luck of the Irish? Guess we'll see. Okay, I hope this isn't a stupid question but I have to ask... How can we purchase the AME land up north without knowing what the BB damages will be? How can the SB accurately budget the referendum money without that figure? Their guesses were so spot-on in the past, there's no way something could be underestimated now to support a position. Now I'll get the broken record award. Our SB is going down yet another path without all the facts. When you present them, they act all put-out by it and try to defend the previous false information with more BS that is again proven wrong. M2, I'm looking in your direction.

Brad, I apologize. Sometimes I get pretty worked up over all the SB/Admin conspiracies. Bob totally understood. I am trying to do a better job of not calling out the board members. I can hate the process without defaming the people. I think this situation is messy. I do not think there is a dark conspiracy or that people have an evil intent. Feel free to call BS on me anytime. I promise to make better use of IMO

I don't think anyone accused the SB of hiding the Whitt Law attorneys fees. I have no conspiracy theories and have stated numerous times I am not trying to start a witch hunt.
I do want to know what went wrong...and I do think it had to be more than one thing. Although probably a low ball jury verdict would have gone a long way to curing what ailed the process.I have asked for answers and all the SB seems to want to point to is the jury verdict.
So, the SB bet they'd win in court and they lost the bet, or better yet my kids lost the bet.
But what led them to believe they'd win in court? Bad appraisals, poor representation? Why idd they "go to the mat " and waste two years only to walk away? I have asked the questions of the SB members and gotten no response.

I have asked the questions of the SB members and gotten no response. Incorrect, incomplete or misrepresented facts are to blame. Casual conversations with a friend who does commercial real estate for a living said (before the trial) that they would get a price that is close to double what their option price was prior. He said that it's pretty much expected that once an option price expires, the price doubles. Verdict was? Nearly double. I thought he was crazy when he said it but it played out exactly that way. Seeking proper unbiased advice would have let them know this. Whomever thought or informed them they had a chance at the lower price was incompetent or at best, ignorant in that field.

I was surprised by this - were they actually talking to Macom in Fall of 2006? Would they have considered abandoning the BB site then? I doubt they would have because I think they would've taken a lot of heat for dropping it w/o good cause.

I doubt they would have because I think they would've taken a lot of heat for dropping it w/o good cause. IIRC, Macom came out in Jan that they approached the school with the $330K for 85 acres in Fall of 06. Speculating: If they would have done $210k then, the SB/Admin would have been forced to seriously to look at. The SB could have done the swap and maybe Naperville would have moved the road when it was originally schelduled (last summer). Sidenote, in an article I read about the EJ railroad purchase, 95th is being extended to Route 30. Possible quicker way to WV. Probably could have broke ground in late summer or early fall of this year.

95th already does go through to Rte 30, as Wolf's Crossing - although it might curve south a little bit. To go this way, you'd be going West of WV than cutting back East to get there. On mapquest it doesn't appear to be a faster route for people coming from Rte 59/95th St area - not sure though.

I don't know if I am posting this under the right thread, but here goes. I got a letter from Whitt law today notifying us of a public hearing for special use permit filed with the City of Aurora by the SD. It will be in city council chambers on Feb. 27, 2008 at 7 pm. Our property backs up to the church property.....I plan to attend.

When I map the approx. Petersen school address to WV, I get 7.26 miles and 11 minutes. When I map the corner of 111th and 248th (Tamarack area), I get 6.67 mi and 10 minutes. They send you 111th west to Rt. 30 and up to Rt. 34. So if it doesn't benefit the 95th Street folks, it will at least maybe help those south of 111th. Don't know what Rt.30 is like traffic-wise at the timesbut I think it has fewer stoplights than Rt. 59. I personally would rather backtrack than deal with Rt. 59.

Anyone who lives in the south and travels west to eola knows you have to add 10 minutes in case you get stuck by a train! (you, always, have to cross a RR track) you never know when a train is coming! so, it's always 'mapquest +10 minutes' when heading west- i know.. i travel to rush-copley gym & du page swimming often!

You can see the possible road in Google map satellite.

The 41 trains a day that are much longer sort of change the equationas well, IMO.
