I am not in favor of this purchase and new boudary fiasco, but let us remember that families will be attending and be respectful. Mod - I think this should be removed. It is in very bad taste. Yep - all the families from my area. Sorry, I'm trying to find some humor in the 'stuff' we've been dealt..... I realize that but there are families happy to go there. This district is in enough trouble already. Why mock a school where some will be proud to call home. Isn't that right WVHSPARENT? As I said before funny how mods pick and choose what is not in good taste. Did I laugh? Yes. But at someone else's expense - the children. I recommend our energy be put into finding a solution to fix this district before we all go down in flames.

lots of hidden talent here -- maybe we should get together over Rockband ( great game) -- or I could get the Black Pearl Ludwigs out of my Mom's basement and 'get the band back together' Is this a mission from God to save the orphanage school? We need the Blues Brothers to save the day.

No one is making fun of children here. I wasn't joking when I said that this is the first time my stomach and head hasn't hurt in 2 weeks. Could you please give me a break? If you don't like it, don't read it. AE, I guess you're not the only one.

ETA: Just give the kids some kool-aid...then they won't even get the joke and no offense will be taken.

I do not trust pawns of the SD to take soil samples and do a rush job for the sake of rushing, like it seems they are doing in every aspect of this exercise. My younger brother has stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma which developed over the years before it was caught. He probably got it from PCBs when he worked at an industrial site, but there is no way to know for sure because it develops slowly. He has 4 kids under the age of 10. After 6 chemos and radiation treatments he is clean as of this summer, but it is not curable, just slowed down. Hopefully, it will disappear for many years or forever. I don't know what it will take to clean up that toxic mess, but they better do it before any kids are allowed to get near it.

I will leave it to other mods to decide to remove or not ( if they do that's fine) -- as I don't believe we have a lot of children reading this board. And maybe some humor would help my daughter and many others to stop crying over this decision. If you want disrespectful and nasty - I 'll print copies of some of the text messages being sent around by some kids. The real joke is what's being leveled on all of us -- and it's not funny at all. If you have suggestions on how to fix the situation I am more than willing to listen.... I'll cease posting on this thread as any fun has been sucked out if it now -- and I'll go back to being miserable...

BTW- my child and Fry friends already had a fight with their Welch friends at Scullen and that was on Wednesday. It all started with "My Dad says that Fry kids would never use that bridge to get to school any way". You can imagine how well that went over. ETA: and yes the Welch child was saying this to the 8th grade speakers from Tuesday's meeting.

great to have you posting again -- maybe once we get past the anger ( and laughter might help that ) - we can figure a way out of this abyss. Thanks doc. Sorry, i think I killed the thread. All I can say is that I believe we can figure a way out of this and it has everything to do with a couple things: 1. Humor 2. Music 3. Boxed wine (in moderation) We've done 1 and 2, and I've been working on 3, so I expect to have some new ideas in the morning. (who knows, one of us might come up with a breakthrough realization using this approach!)

They better do it before it's purchased, and that includes removing the plant. Has anyone wondered why they have not done anything with it after 3 years of decommissioning it? It was said for many years in their SEC filings that they are (the offsite peaker plants) an environmental liability to the company. Now, our district wants to actually BUY the land before the it's removed. Since it operated for 34 years with no pollution controls whatsoever to speak of, does our district think it will be a 'clean' removal? Maybe that's the funniest part of this whole thing.

We need to focus our energy on getting a proper and thorough investigation into the true environmental hazards of this property. Outside environmental agencies should be brought in for the evaluation and environmental groups should be contacted. Does anyone have any press connections?

I'd be happy if the admin would allow a peer review and re-survey from a very reputable company in the area.

I am laughing out loud on this one! OMG! ;D I too am retching... for crying out loud! I am Irish, should I be offended by the "Fighting Irish" of Notre Dame? Does it stereotype all Irish as Leprechauns? Yes, you should be. Notre Dame is French. I would like them to discontinue defaming the Irish in deference to my Irish heritage. Oh and... Go Boilers!! Purdue Pete is an insult to construction workers everywhere
