Well I guess we can expect a purchase next week also - the results will be reviewed on Monday ( wonder if anything will be put up for review before the meeting - or after the meeting ) --

Agenda below.. Will the IEPA be there ? WIll they even be notified yet ? Since it's a special meeting it likely will not be broadcast - so if you want to hear whatever we are going to be told - you should plan to attend.

Results from Environmental Assessment Phases I and II Presented to Board

The Indian Prairie School District 204 Board of Education will convene a special meeting on Monday, April 7 at 6:00PM at the Howard Crouse Educational Center, Aurora, Illinois to hear from representatives from Testing Service Corporation (TSC) who will detail the findings of the Phase I and Phase II environmental assessment study of the Eola Road property.

District officials authorized the studies as part of their due diligence testing and as a prerequisite to land purchase. The first phase outlines historical data from both the site itself as well as commentary collected from previous property owners. The second phase concentrates on the results of 96 soil borings and ground water samplings that were collected to determine the presence of contamination.

The district has identified 87 acres of the Eola Road property as the proposed site location for its third high school, Metea Valley High School, which is projected to open in Fall 2009.

TSC has previously reviewed the results of these reports with district administration and the school board, but the representatives were bound by confidentiality agreements from various parties that prevented this information from being presented publicly.

Yup, that was what I was thinking. Looks like they will break ground before mid month.

As long as everything comes back OK, why should that then be a problem?

Edit: I do not see the implication in what I wrote. I think we can all agree the questions with go on and on. They will probbaly continue throughout the lifetime of MVHS. It is what is is...

As a taxpayer and I care about:

1. Brach and Brodie Trust issue
2. Selling the remaining BB land,
3. NSFOC lawsuit

But I would not wanna rain on the parade. I am sure it will all work out just fine.

Some problems there can only be fixed by distance.

They have started removing some of the equipment on the MWGen site as of yesterday. Looks like some of the generators are being removed on large trailers.

Will this meeting give the community any opportunity for questions? Are we part of the equation?

Oh right, didn't MM say public comment was a courtesy?

All the public comment in the world won't stop the SB from buying this site. Even with two lawsuits and enviromental concerns, this SB will not stop the train. I really don't know what we can do to stop this.

You know, for people that have guessed wrong at nearly every point in this process over the past 2 years, there seems to be an interesting (and confusing) level of confidence in this go round.

Anyway, still don't get the opposition to the IEPA evaluating this site prior to us purchasing, or at a minimum, evaluating the MidGen portion prior to us breaking ground (point of no return).

But I guess it just reflects the basic mores of the average American. Want it. Buy it. Ask questions later. And if it's a bad decision, we'll just increase taxes. Again.

I am wondering if any local pediatricians or oncologists have an opinion regarding the safety issues. Sometimes Drs. have experience, anectodal evidence, that speaks to the safety of everyday hazards.

I would encourage anyone with concerns to turn to their healthcare professionals. I would be interested in hearing my pediatrician's opinion.
