Both East Aurora (District 131) and Oswego (308) have referendums up today.
Just curious what's your predictions? I predict Oswego's massive one passes, East Aurora's does not.

I also predict Oswego will vote YES.
East Aurora will be tough. There has been a lot of campaigning by the Vote Yes supporters. Neighborhood mtgs, phone banks, door to door. But tax incr are always tough....Beacon New reported that the last district's operating rate increase was approved 13 years ago.
They had a referendum pass big during the Nov 2004 high turnout election. I will predict with a high profile race for gov and a higher turnout....that they will get a Yes outcome.

So what happened to voting, putting your ballot in a case, putting it into the machine, and pushing it in? Did they do away with that? Not happy that someone was standing right there giving me directions on how to insert my ballot with my votes in the open.

They should have given you a cover to hide your ballot hen you inserted into tha ballot box.

Thats what I thought! I did not watch to see how others around me inserted theirs. (It's a private matter) I can only assume (which makes an a.. out of you and me) that they inserted it the same way I did.

Mine was all done on a touch screen with a printed record next to it that gets spooled up when I hit "cast ballot" I thought it was cool, but then again I 'm a geek.....

I tried the touch screen too. All in all, pretty disappointed. Ain't gonna fly with the general public, IMHO. Worst UX I've ever seen. Also, what's the value in not using paper?
Diebold should be Disbanded. Sorry AE, I know you worked on stuff with them before.

Looks like your prediction was right. eh?
I thought the whole "cover your ballot with a cardboard folder" process was a little different this year. I think last time I voted, they gave me my ballot inside the cardboard folder. This time they just gave me the ballot. After I was done voting and went to the table to give them my ballot, there was a large stack of cardboard folders. Thinking that I had to have one of those to insert the ballot in the machine, I picked up one and wrapped it around my ballot. One of the guys sitting there made some comment about "Oh, yes. You have to have one of those for privacy". I kind of took his comment in a joking manner, but at the time I was thinking that it was kind of a joke. There wasn't a lot of privacy at all, not that I give a rat's a**.
My mom was an Election Judge in our hometown precinct for 15 years. She just shakes her head when I tell her about some of the things I've seen at polling places.

Actually I worked on the election management software that would add up all the votes at the central office. Why waste your time messing with one or two machines when you can change the results of entire election at the back end!!!
