The architectural firm working on the new high school presented preliminary drawings of the high school's floor plan and an overview of the 80-acre site to the Board of Education. Department leaders at Neuqua Valley and Waubonsie Valley provided input for the school's layout. "We heard from staff at both schools about specific building areas and are taking the best from both," said Assistant Superintendent Kathy Birkett. The school has a compact design with two courtyards that allow natural light into almost every room in the building. The architect will finalize the floor plan on May 12 and provide another update to the Board on May 22. After the layout is finalized, the next phase will address what the school looks like. Administrators expect to see exterior sketches in late June. I don't know why they keep referring to it as being an "X". It looks more like a modified Z configuration, which provides for less traffic collisions if it was an X. I also see the 2 locations for the "monument sign" which will have the inscription "School exists thanks to the help of ipsd204.proboards76.com", and will have a statue of Yoda.

I don't get what the advantage is to moving the students parking entrance away from Commons Drive and towards Route 59. They said that the city had an interest in seeing less traffic on Commons. But if traffic is diverted at all it will be diverted to Route 59.
Isn't the whole point of Commons drive to divert traffic from Route 59.
The resisidents of Stonehaven have a right to be worried about the traffic. I think that the developer tried to make it look like Commons Drive was really going to be less than it really is.
You are only really talking traffic from the Fry and White Eagle elementary school traffic anyway. If I lived in either of these areas I would tell my kid to Drive through Commons Drive anyway and take a right on 75th. It would not really divert any traffic to Route 59. It just make school more difficult to get to and could leave to accidents.
The traffic from the north is also most likely to use Commons and have to turn on 75th Street.
