The Parents Advsory meeting is tonite. 4/5/06 If anyone has anything they would like me to bring up please let me know. Not sure if this is appropriate, but in looking on IPSDs website section "Spotlight: Showcase of Student Work in IPSD 204" in the Music Studio section, there are several Mp3 downloads of the various music groups within NV. In the WV area, there isn't much. Given that WV has such an outstanding music program, I think they should beef this area up to showcase their talent. Here's a link to the area: www.ipsd.org/spotlight.aspI know it's not much but every little bit of good advertising helps!

The Principal's Advisory Council began at 7:00 p.m. on 4/5/06. Twelve parents were in attendance. Schmid passed out a list of WVHS Business partners and minutes from the last meeting.
He opened the discussion part of the program by asking for their neighborhood reactions to the passing of the referendum. Collectively, the group thought that passing the referendum was a good thing for students in #204, but there was concern that WVHS must continue to receive its share of renovation and upgrades per district standards. Comments ranged from neighborhoods who were very supportive to the Brookdale area who felt that their concerns were given less priority than some other subdivisions. The group also talked about being about the business of moving WVHS and #204 forward.
Schmid announced that many exciting things had happened to WVHS in the last month - contractors from the new Ashwood subdivision on the south end of the WVHS boundaries are putting together a splashy brochure highlighting many of the wonderful things that are happening in our school including academics, teachers, music, athletics, and recent graduates. We will receive a 1,000 brochures to assist our promotion.
We were not able to tour the facilities, but we will make that first on the agenda for the May meeting. Schmid then asked the group to begin formulating thoughts for moving forward with our promotional efforts.
Meeting ended at 8:05. Next meeting, May 3, 2006, at 7:30 in the LMC.
