OK that make sense...and I agree on objecting to changes of that sort.
The property at Kirk and Rt 56 has always been commercial (supposed to have been a Target 1st)...not too sure what the outlet mallwas zoned (it's next to I-88 so I doubt it was anything residential). The point was we will never please everyone.
I agree the Ponds piece would connect and unify 2 seperate PD properties into a nicer one.

All of these (Mandalay Club, re-routing 248th for Carillon, The Ponds of Hobson) are probably just the beginning of the unusual ideas we'll see as the pressure mounts in the final days of the great Naperora Land Grab at build out.
We, as citizenry will need to be dilligent and let our officials know how we stand on it. I know I've already discussed rezoning commercial-> residential with Alderman Keith and he's firmly against this type of rezoning.
Some areas will come under big pressure though, like that patch behind/north of Home Depot, and the commercial lots behind the Ace and the other stores that front Eola. It will be hard to bring in commercial into those areas, but it can be done, with things like Day Care, Medical Offices, etc that offer a lot of value to the community.
