Due to an electrical power outage, classes at Waubonsie Valley High School's Main Campus are cancelled today, Monday, February 26, 2007. This applies to the Main Campus (Green Building) only. Main Campus staff will be called with further instructions later this morning. The district will provide an update via 204 E-News and the school's website as soon as more information is available My daughter who attends the Green campus found this out from a phone call from a friend around 6:15. We verified this on the website and I found I had two e-mails about it. My daughter who attends the Gold campus went out to her bus and the driver said school was cancelled. So she's back in the house and I think the driver is wrong but wasn't taking any kids... I can't get a hold of anyone on the phone to verify. It seems like by 6:50am someone at the gold campus should be reachable by phone. The main number only gives a long message and then hangs up. The admin building doesn't open until 8. I've tried several other numbers in the building and can't get a hold of a person anywhere. How frustrating! Dialing 0 during the message to get to "an attendant" just gets me a hangup or a place to leave a message. Update at 6:57am - the bus driver that was originally here at 6:28 and said gold campus was closed, just came back picking up kids. They will get to school after it starts but at least now I can stop trying to get info and actually talk to my middle schooler while he's getting ready for school.

The Bus driver was also the one who told my son that Gold Green was closed. No power..that is probably why no answer. It was on the radio too. Also rumor has it there are some flooding issues at Gold Green...can anyone confirm...

I finally spoke to someone in the office at 7:30am and she said that school is in session at Gold and that there was a power problem at Green but she didn't know that until she got to school. She said that it was reported on TV that WV was closed, not the clarification that Gold is open. I haven't heard anything about flooding. We had a lot of power problems at home Saturday night during the storm.

Momto4, you should get on the WVHS e-mail alert. I received mine at 5:30 am. At 6:15am we had a phone call from one of my daughter's friends. So I checked my e-mail and had one to the WV e-mail list at 5:22am and one to the IPSD list at 5:30am. I also checked the information on the ipsd and WV websites and found the same info. Yet my daughter's bus driver for the gold campus arrived and said school was cancelled for Gold. Before making a 25 minute round-trip to the school in the car, I wanted to find a way to be sure the bus driver was wrong since they should surely have the most up-to-date info.

One would think a bus driver would get the info right.

One would think a bus driver would get the info right. Well, he did come back 30 minutes later to pick up any kids he could find on his route.
