Let me update my list of things I would like to see worked out.... 1) 25 archers of land sold 2) Brach and Brodie Trust Legal Fees and Damages 3) Brodie Trust new complaint 4) NSFOC Lawsuit I hope we can see the two legal strategies here. Brach and Brodie are going to continue to pepper complaints at the district. This further increases the time the school starts construction and the time we have the BB issues settled. This is what we called in the real world. Increased risk. On the other hand, the district is going to continue to build as fast as it can. I guess the legal defense here is if the district has built the new school the judge will take pitty on the district. Believe me I have all the faith in the world when Whit Law speaks about how the district will be victorious. This again speaks volumes to me about the people who once said they had a healthy mistrust the school board but now support their every maneuverer. If it matters, you credibility in my eyes is ZERO. Please someone call this all FUD. I do believe these are real concerns. As I will say again, move the site to Hamman and the majority of the 'silent majority' goes away - and goes back to Vote No . The anti nsfoc site would read quite differently Move it to BB and all of the lawsuits go away.

The anti nsfoc site would read quite differently Doc, I have to respectfully disagree with you here. If the site were to move to Hamman it would be an enviromental group. ETA: I do feel that most of the people I know in my area just want a freakin' 3rd HS ANYWHERE at this point. If it takes until 2010, fine. If it's at BB because that's where a judge said it needs to be, fine. Just build the darn thing already!

Isn't Hamman even further away from the dump and the run-off at the dump runs south... the school site being north of that is perfectly safe, right?
Cheaper too...
Let's see the same people stand up and support that choice....

He said if the trust wants to revert to the original settlement it should also honor the price of the land at that time of $257,000 an acre. The jury's verdict in September put the cost at $518,250 an acre. ----------------------------------------------------------------
WHY is our attorney negotiating in the paper? I would have expected him to say - "NO DEAL, never ever ever - the high school is going on the polluted Eola site, BB is dead, end of story." But that's not what he said. Interesting.
ALSO - With the PREIT deal falling through, their damage claim gets A LOT easier to prove.

I wish that our SB/SD would have the sense to hire an independent consultant (or whatever you call that kind of firm) to come in and evaluate the whole picture. Let's pay someone without their own personal interests/egos to plug everything in and determine the best course of action. Put all costs in (not just financial) and see what happens. I'm talking a full spreadsheet calculation not the BS that our SB posted supporting the Eola site.
Start with land costs, add in expected and future transportation costs, lawsuit and legals costs involved, safety issues, transit times, environmental issues, long-term growth of the district, loss of state funding dollars (millions of dollars!) due to the Build Smart program, etc. There's plenty more factors that should be included and this is just simply a start off the top of my head but really pay someone to come in thoroughly examine the whole picture. Would it be BB? Who knows but at least we'd have an expert evaluation.
Our SB needs some outside help. At this point I just don't think that they're capable of making rational decisions. The decisions they're making today will effect us forever as a district. To move ahead on the Eola site without knowing walk-away costs of BB and not understanding the full safety of the Eola site is just ridiculous.

When is the final verdict on the BB vs. D204 settlement supposed to transpire? Been out of the loop for quite some time.

When is the final verdict on the BB vs. D204 settlement supposed to transpire? Been out of the loop for quite some time. The saga continues - May 13 is the next court date. I imagine BB can drag this out for years before we finally have to pay them off and secure the right to sell the 25 acres. No word on our 25 acres. That was supposed to be a piece of cake - just ask them if we can sell it and they say yes or no. Not really believing that we are going to get an answer on the 25 acres anytime soon.

I don't have time to read all these updates from the last 3 weeks I have been out of town.

I see our district taking a blood bath in the pockets. What dumba^&es do we have on this school board? I am shocked at the grossly high level of poor leadership we have in 204....and to think when we moved here this school district was considered noteworthy......not anymore. I think that Avery Coonley, All Saints and Benet are starting to look better and better.

Benet just had a huge fundraising push to add a new science wing. Friends I know who attend there would love to see a Benet West at Macom, but they said there's no money to build.
I was surprised Calvary didn't go all the way through HS. Most baptist high schools I know of do very well and draw from a wide geographical circle. It targets a very specific group of parents. I know people from West Chicago who attend Calvary?? Talk about a drive!

Wouldn't be Benet West formally but someone who I believe has some insight told me yes some discussions have taken place. Where they stand I have no idea -
