There is a nice article that has been recurring in Positively Naperville! each month regarding the trip to S. Africa.

Warriors Reaching Out
SPECIAL TO POSITIVELY NAPERVILLE
By Dr. Joy Ross
The power of embracing life…
As we continue with our plans for our upcoming June
2008 South Africa trip, I am humbled by the power associated
with embracing each moment
and living life through the experiences
that it brings. Last month, I
invited a teacher to join us on this
stewardship trip as her specialty
could greatly enhance our offerings in South Africa. After
presenting the invitation to her and having it received
with hesitation and unsettling interest, the commitment
to process all that this invitation involved was where we
left the conversation.
Noting that travel had never occurred nor was it ever
contemplated, I was grateful for her commitment to consider
taking this trip. Four days later an “explorer”
appeared at my office door staking and emphatically stated:
”I am going to South Africa.”
The woman behind that claim was, already, different.
She was bold, inquisitive and willing to put real life effort
into investigating her questions, thoughts, and newfound
interests. This was a woman formerly restricted to the
familiar; yet she was more than willing to step beyond her
comfort zone and make herself available to new experiences.
She was a taller, more confident and I got excited for her and our students.
I was excited because I knew she would never be the
same as she approached life. She would, from this day,
search for richness, she would strive for more and she would
leave each interaction fuller than when she entered it.
As I think about the trip to South Africa and all the components
that we have established, I am made to realize that
the purpose of this trip is bigger than we see on a day-today
bases. We are blessed to be vehicles of change that will
impact and influence lives in exponential ways. The power
of these experiences is here for us all. Willingly move forward
to meet them. “LEAP and the net will appear.” Join
us and experience the awesome power of embracing life.
Stay tuned each month to learn more about the upcoming
South African trip under the banner of “Warriors
Reaching Out” and how you can be a part of supporting
this great stewardship program.
