Well, I am hearing that BB is dead and off the table. This is very sad for this district. The lawsuit filed on 4/7/08 by the Brodie Trust (the one that didn't want to sell) calls for a count1 remedy of the district actually being commanded to purchase the parcel at the jury price if I read that correctly. That doesn't sound dead to me. What is your information source?

I guess the lawsuits are just issues that need to be worked out.

The board is foolish and irresponsible if it determines for itself that it is 'off the table'.
The filed lawsuit says otherwise and they will get OUR butts handed to them on a platter, since it's OUR money they are gambling with. They are a little dog thinking they can take on a couple of big dogs. We are going to get shredded so bad it's not even funny.

Metzger says everything is still on the table in today's article, so if they really are taking BB off the table from their discussions, then this is truly a sad, unfathomable play. If this is actually true, and if this was a poker game, there would be a line all the way from Watts to Eola of people trying to get in the game to play our weak SB.

Call it personal agenda, call it whatever you want... but we have to go by what THEY are saying themselves via legal documents. Anything else is a fools gamble... equate it with putting $150 million on 13 using only 2 dice.

The litmus test is simple and pathetic in this district...
I have never lived ANYWHERE else where so many people are considering MOVING because of the school district or PRIVATE school because of the current state of the district... and I've lived in some pretty pathetic places... that's saying an awful lot.

They are going to blow the entire $150 million, but only lose $15 million at a time and spread it out amongst different places: lawyer fees, damage claims, cleanup firms, and various churches, hurry-up costs, slow-down costs for others...etc...etc.. Don't forget pick-a-number, casino war, and rock-paper-scissors. We'll be in the gutter before you know it. Anyone want to start digging in the Eola land to see if we can find that old Yuban coffee can with the money in it from when we sold one of our kidneys? We need to go on a comeback run.

Well, when you read the witch hunt on the green board it makes it very hard to just take it. It is scary over there. What does this mean "witch hunt"? There are very informative discussions on the green board.

There are very informative discussions on the green board. Who to blame for MWG pulling out.. the 'consequences' thread. They are barking up the wrong tree and basically laying the groundwork for showing 'intent' if any reprisals were to happen locally. It's a line that should not be crossed, IMO.

I would have to assume we take Midwest at their word and they pulled out due to the negative publicity and potential for much more. If what you are saying is that someone or some group would want to organize a reprisal to the parties that made MWG fail I would find that incredible. Incredible yes, but not out of the range of possibility knowing all the anger and hatred that is out there.

MWGEN just wants their name OUT of the paper as they continue to operate their Illinois power plants even though they don't meet EPA emmissions standards.

This was posted on the green board and I agree with this. I have emailed all the SB wanting a side by side comparsion of costs b/t the two sites. In the long run BB site is best for the district. IMO
"Buying all the churchs land brings the Eola site total cost closer to BB cost. And one advantage, a 2009 opening, seems is very likely not a choice anymore. So how close are Eola and BB price tags now? I will assume BB takes the jury price, for this comparison.
We all know that AME was selling their land at higher price than MWGen. Given total cost presented in mid Jan for the Eola two-way land price was $16.5 mil, my figuring (and I believe I have seen other estimates) had church getting $300k/acre
At $300k for ~80 acres, land cost is $24 mil, (about $7.5 mil more). This results in the Eola cost being under budget, +$2 mil.
If chuch sells at $250k per acre....land cost is $20 mil, or total cost at +$6 mil
Recall, for BB we were at -$3 mil.
Even if church sells, given that the lower priced MWGen land is out of picture and 2010 may be the target, the cost differential is coming closer.

A few of us have been saying since day 1 - AME would end up costing more than BB - even more so with a 2010 opening. Transportation increases over BB ( not the supposed wash with today - where we only have 2 schools and spend $150 to get back to a wash ) - but the est 11%-13% per year ( $1m per ) -will put it way over. This does not even count if we lose any of the $60M in damage claims. If we lose anything more than a few % of that there won't be a 3rd high school - if we lose it all-- someone quick get me the number to Peter Francis Geraci - it's chap 11 time.

So even a small award in damages could put them even.

( And before someone says prove it - call them and ask - they will verify ) And with ignorant comments like those made by our 2 BD buds in todays paper - more will just pack it in and go.
