...to Senior Chris Derrick on posting the 6th-fastest 5000m time ever
by a high school track athlete at the Arcadia Invitational in
California on Saturday.
Derrick's time of 13:55.96 positions him among legendary names in
American running: Just ahead of the high school performances by
three-time Olympian Craig Virgin and just seconds behind Steve
Prefontaine, who at one time held every American record from the 2,000m
to the 10,000m.

Jimmy Riddle (9:11.19), Danny Pawola (9:15.20) and Aaron Beattie
(9:24.55) competed in the 3200m at this prestigous meet. Beattie's time
ranks him as one of the fastest sophomores in the nation.
