Congratulations... ...to Senior Chris Derrick on posting the 6th-fastest 5000m time ever by a high school track athlete at the Arcadia Invitational in California on Saturday. Derrick's time of 13:55.96 positions him among legendary names in American running: Just ahead of the high school performances by three-time Olympian Craig Virgin and just seconds behind Steve Prefontaine, who at one time held every American record from the 2,000m to the 10,000m. Beattie's time ranks him as one of the fastest sophomores in the nation.
