"If you orchestrate a under the table deal to steal a principal for your new school and then the school moves away from you and you get sent back to the original school that lost the principal .........you might be a District 204 Resident"
"If you find yourself subscribing to "Soldier of Fortune" magazine to find the latest and greatest night vision goggles so that you can see and record license plate numbers after nighttime NSFOC meetings......you might be a District 204 Resident"
"If you conduct witch hunts against your fellow residents .........you might be a District 204 Resident or a citizen of Salem, Mass in the 1800s"

"If you wake up every morning with a smile on your face and less than 1 minute later you revert to a depressed state realizing the mess we are in before you even have a chance to get a cup of coffee.........you might be a District 204 Resident"
"If you realize that the biggest problem facing us is perpetual hate and resentment towards certain neighborhoods.........you might be a District 204 Resident and also a new customer of Mayflower Moving Company."
"If you look in the mirror and see a witch, a zombie, and Godzilla, you might be a District 204 resident after running away from the pitchfork-wielding witch hunters after staying up for 2 straight days reading potluck and running past the Eola site and its Electrical lines.

If the fire marshall has locked you out of a board meeting ... you might be a District 204 resident.
If you passed a referendum for a third high school over two years ago and a land contract has not even been finalized yet.... you might be a District 204 resident.
If your new high school is already 16+ million over budget and you don't even have a land contract yet your leaders insist the project will be delivered "on budget" .... you might be a District 204 resident.
If people stand up at a board meeting and praise your district leadership for being "fiscally responsible" for being $16+ million over budget on a non-existant high school and spending untold millions to extract themselves from a land purchase ... you might be a District 204 resident.
If your superintendent tells the local paper that he's fallen in a ditch, he can't slow down a boat, and he's fencing off a baby ... you might be a District 204 resident.
If your school board is currently named as a defendent on 4 outstanding lawsuits totalling tens of millions in damages ... you might be a District 204 resident. ( I threw the tshirt one in there just for fun!)

If you use your position as a PTA officer to totally go against everything PTA stands for... you might be a Dist. 204 resident.

If you use your position as a PTA officer to totally go against everything PTA stands for... you might be a Dist. 204 resident. I believe the newspaper article reads "Brookdale resident"? Does she not get to voice her own opinion as a resident? Volunteering can never rob us of our own identity. That's just not fair. ANd we each have to protect that right. I have never heard Jennifer say she was speaking as a PTA Pres, only as Jennifer. Please give that some thought.

So a SB member can voice their opinion as a resident and then turn around and be leader representing the whole district? No. I think this holds true for a PTA president. I have seen many in that role hold back their opinions because of the position they hold.
The elist word is now being talked about in the Clinton/Obama race because of some comments made by Obama. Can he just make those opinions as a citizen not as a presidential runner?

The PTA president referred to has never used her position within the school, for anything other then positive Parent/ Child involvement. She took a position that is frankly not coveted and performed in a positive profession manner. Her personal position never effected her doing her nonpaying job. She is an intelligent, caring woman who is expressing her own opinion. Everyone is entitled their opinion. I wish this were all over and done with so our district could heal. Is that even possible?

However she 'thought' she was speaking as, people will formulate their own opinions based on the positions she holds, whether or not she 'meant' to speak from that position or not. That's just the way life works. It's behavior unbecoming of the position held.

you moved to an area specifically for the schools and now are embarrassed to admit you live in it.
if you moved to from one area of the district to another and find yourself now labeled an entitled, elitist, & racist even though the only thing about you that changed was your tax bill, you might be a 204 resident.
if every morning you wake up and check to see if a cross is burning on your lawn, you might be a 204 resident.
if your friends from other subdivisions agree with your opinions but are afraid to voice them lest they bring the wrath of the SB, Admin, & other district Nazi's to their area, you might be a 204 resident.
if it is acceptable for a district employee to fabricate a document, publish it district wide and face ZERO reprecussions, you might be a district 204 resident.

I disagree with you Arch. I believe people can do both and I hope people are smart enough to differentiate between the two.

I disagree with you Arch. I believe people can do both and I hope people are smart enough to differentiate between the two. We can agree to disagree, but the reaction most people will and have had is: "The PTSA president said what?!?!?!?!" Not 'Jen', not 'Jennifer' not 'some Brookdale resident'.. but.. the PTSA PRESIDENT. That's how it's being talked about down in this neck of the woods, just so you know... One can control what they say. One can not control how people take it. Since it was said that this newspaper quote was quoted out of context, this is why many here have suggested that the matter be taken up with the papers that misquoted the speaker to CLARIFY the statement or retract the direct quote if it was incorrect. The reality of it though is that the cat's already out of the bag and people have already formed their opinions. This is why one should take into account positions they hold and how statements may reflect badly upon those positions whether they intend for them to be made in that capacity or not.
