I would like to know if there will be any alternatives for parents that object to sending their children to MV at Eola due to the multiple health and safety concerns.
I know that children are allowed to attend a school outside of their assigned area - special exceptions - if they provide their own transportation.
If anyone has a concrete example of when that happened and if it was due to a health or safety concern please post.

I know that children are allowed to attend a school outside of their assigned area - special exceptions - if they provide their own transportation. If anyone has a concrete example of when that happened and if it was due to a health or safety concern please post. I can tell you I had this discussion with a SD admin at the Watts PTA meeting 2 months ago and was told NO exceptions are going to be made unless someone can 'prove' some type of health issue for a particular individual where it would be beter at WVHS and they couldn't imagine such a thing even exists. No exceptions for sports ( even if they don't offer like for like at the shell of a school ) - no exceptions period. Good luck trying to get anything done.. They likely know how many people want to opt out - I was asked this question again yesterday by my child ( and her 03 WVHS alum sister) as we were at the track meet @ WVHS. Many of my daughters VB friends also run track for Scullen and they had a great time together. That is until the topic turned to HS and her friends told her they couldn't imagine playing VB without her on the team. She ran the 400 while she was crying, she barely finished after doing very well earlier in the 100. I couldn't even post last night I was so freeakin' angry as the ONLY reason Watts is not going to WVHS is the social re-engineering they are performing on Waubonsie Valley HS. And the fact they pick a crap site where they can't 1/2 fill the school with residents within a reasonable distance. This is what I get to deal with on a daily basis because of it. I get to pay for this and any law suits on top of it and use none of it. btw - not one of her 3 Scullen friends ( all W/E) have ANY issue with going to WVHS - this is mostly spin and not coming from the area itself. I'd move there, but I can't afford it - even though I'm against AME so by definition I am an elitist snob your alternative, apply easly to a private school, pray you child does very well on the entrance exam as they have 2x the number of applicants as spots, and get out your checkbook. In return you will get a great school, lots of personal attention, additional introspection for your child ( provided you are Catholic) - and hopefully one day spend less time wondering how on God's green earth did this situation end up so screwed up.

Thanks for the pm's on this topic. I am thinking about the speaker on Monday night that said the current attendance area of MVHS is "less litigious" and that's why the school should go at EOLA. We'll see how "litigious" the mamma bears in the current MVHS attendance area get when they get the full picture of the danger that EOLA presents to their cubs.

Right now I think some just can't get past the idea of a shiny new school. Otherwise, I don't get it. No parent I know would ever knowing take a gamble with the health of their children (& there is definitely enough reasonable doubt). If there is even one tiny bit of doubt on the safety of the site, I would never send my kids there and neither would any of my friends. Oh, and when I say friends I am not just talking about TG or WE. I am talking about High Meadow, Saddle Creek, Ashbury, & Tamarak friends. But I have that luxury of flexibility. I am blessed to be able to take a loss financially to some degree and sell my home in a down market. But what about those who can't afford that? What about those parents who would give anything to protect their kids but they cannot afford to move or send their children to private school? Of course our SB and Dr. D don't seem to care about that. Don't they know any better? Who are the single minded elitists now?

One more thought: So basically she was saying that they won't sue if one of their kids get sick.

He think's he'll be getting new neighbors down there! I like to think of it as stunned silence. I think pretty much since the, "we did not have enough time for appraisal" comment I have been unable to think clearly about this situation. But yes Sales Office is open from 10am - 5pm Mon - Sat I just got across the street neighbors... But alas no one on either side of me. Looks like weed warefare again this summer.

City of Naperville passed an ordinance, I think- not sure the status, that will force builders with open lots to grade and seed. That might help a little with the weeds if we can get it going and enforced.

I'd look there but I am afraid the bank would still be laughing weeks later at my loan application...... hey maybe BG's bank would take care of it for me, as least I wouldn't need an appraisal.

I'll just take out one of Oxford's "No Appraisal Necessary" jumbo loans. I hear they're good up to $20MM eta - double-barrelled sarcasm from the Watts area. WeBe, love the Quiet Riot tagline, although I was kinda thinking Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take it"

You guys might be in luck... I here Macom is selling enough room for an entire High School for cheaper than they sell in the north. Come on down. Although, a few of us are trying to convince the Archdioceses of Joliet that there would be very good demand for a new school in my neck of the woods. Yes, Twisted Sister is another fave of mine
