You guys are paranoid. Mike Scotti happens to be a personal friend. I'm confident that Mike will do an excellent job representing the district. This idea that his wife wrote an article about the history of the bar assocation and that she volunteers to help out her son's lacrosse team makes Mike some kind of "connected guy" borders on the delusional. Get a grip. The district hired a respected attorney who happens to live in 203. Hi KM Everything is game for conspiracy, don't you know? It is a real shame so many have lost faith in our SB's ability to be truthful and forthcoming. But I don't blame them. They've been right about the SB too many times.

It's almost as much of a shame as the ones out there throwing the straw-man conspiracy argument around.

Part of what people do on this board, and have been doing since they stood up to VoteNo to pass a referendum that is giving us this new HS in the first place, is throw things out for questioning. If you have an answer, just give one. No one said conspiracy they asked a question. Blowing it out of proportion in the other direction only polarizes it further and perpetuates the drama. Fence.. calling it a conspiracy and then ridiculing it (when no one ever said it in the first place) is the new PC way to say "Shut up and sit down".

Oh, well I feel like a big idiot. Are the mods working on sending out the updates for our "Get Over It" manuals? Apparently we're going to need a refresh in a few sections. Hi KM You are literally correct that no one used the word "conspiracy", but look at the use of the word "Scary" in the original context in the post from "researching". They imply there is some kind of powerful conspiracy that the district is in on, because it has hired an attorney who is so well connected that his wife writes articles for the Illinois State Bar Assocation newsletter AND she is responsible for Booster Apparel of a lacrosse team. Reminds of an exchange in "So I Married an Axe Murderer", between Charlie and his paranoid father: CHARLIE'S DAD Why do you think Scotland's not been able to get independence? Because the Queen, the Pentavirate and those English dome heads in West Minster won't have it. CHARLIE Who are the other members of this pentaverate? CHARLIE"S DAD The Queen, the Rothchilds, the Gettys, the Vatican, and Colonel Sanders before he went t*ts up. Oh, I hated the Colonel with his wee beady eyes. And that smug look on his face.

Dad204,
People use interjections to convey emotion. You've made an interpretation using your own perception of the situation to overlay the whole 'conspiracy' thing.
Sometimes I use 'scary' to simply imply 'small world' or 'whew, what are the odds of that?'
"Scary, I went on vacation to Hondurahs and lost my wallet while swimming.. it was found by a kid from Naperville in the pool whose family happened to be sitting next to us (unbeknownst) at dinner 1 table over and staying in the same hotel... what are the odds?"
Does that mean it's a conspiracy? Uh, no.

Is the Naperville Central Lacrosse Team the jury in this case? I missed that. Did his wife interview the judge in this case for the article or not -- let's not play coy, it really does nothing but embarass your point. Let's not pretend if this was reversed and it was Shawn Collins it wouldn't be raised as a concern, it absolutely would.

I have heard from various area attorneys that Judge Popejoy is a fair and impartial judge. I don't think anything silly is going to persuade him from looking at the facts and making a decision.

Nobody said it was going to make a difference, again not the point. If the shoe was on the other foot - would the group blowing it off now not be screaming to high heaven ? Of course they would. Same group who tried to find a link between Shawn Collins and Mr Helm -- I read those posts also with the entire ' hit list' of trying to find dirt on a listing of people.

Well, since this is such a precedent-breaking trial, I don't think he will let the fact that he met someone's wife years ago cloud his thinking.
