Indian Prairie School District officials announced Sharon Tate will fill the position of Assistant Superintendent of Student Services effective July 1. She takes over for Judy Hackett, who is leaving Indian Prairie for a superintendent post in another district.
Tate began her career in education in 1982 as a school social worker in DeKalb. She started working in Indian Prairie as a social worker in 1990. She later served as a behavior specialist before being named a student services supervisor in 1999. In her present role, she provides assistance to school administrators and staff related to special education programs and services. She also oversees several of the grants secured by the district.
Tate is recognized by her Indian Prairie colleagues as an administrator who is dedicated to students and their families. She is also known for collaborating on new initiatives and innovative educational practices in the area of special education. Tate says she has been fortunate to work with outstanding administrators and staff over the past 17 years. "I look forward to continuing our focus on doing what's best for kids."
She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois and her master's degree from the University of Georgia.
Administrators also announced Michelle Stoehrmann as assistant principal of Hill Middle School. She is filling the opening created when Hill's current assistant principal, Allan Davenport, was named principal.
Stoehrmann has worked as a supported education and resource teacher at Independence Elementary School in Bolingbrook since 2003. She also completed an administration internship at the school this past year.
Stoehrmann received her bachelor's degree from Carthage College in Kenosha, WI and her master's degree from Benedictine University.
