She's totally fed up with District 204
I have lived in District 204 since 1991. I have one child who graduated from our district and three more currently enrolled. I have been reading and watching the insane turmoil that our school board has caused our community. I feel the board no longer has "the best interest of the children" in mind.
In Wednesday's Sun, Dr. Daeschner (superintendent of schools) states "You always like to have some control of your own destiny."
Well, amen to that. Not a single parent in our district has any control of their child's academic destiny if they are enrolled in our public schools.
We voted to build a third high school at a specific location with specific boundaries.
As we all know, that did not happen. Now other people are in control of my children's destiny.
I am totally fed up and disgusted and to be totally honest, embarrassed.
We have decided to move, but with today's market and the uncertainty in our district I pray we can sell.

I second your thoughts, Gina. Luckily we have some time to sell.

The SB did not even tell us how much more per household it would cost to build at BB. Maybe I missed that piece of information in the papers. Does anybody know that answer to that question? I suppose if the SB had given me that piece of info before just going ahead and quickly moving the HS to a different location, I MIGHT feel differently.
This new HS location has impacted the Owen "West" community in so many ways. It is sad that the SB continues to take Owen"West" and just put them where ever they want. I really wonder if a SB member lived in Owen "west" how things would have turned out. I feel so bad for the parents in Owen "West" who will have kids in MVHS and Owen at the same time. What will they do when they have to do before and after school activities? Life is hard enough getting kids from point A to point B.

Well, divide the potential DAMAGES from BB by the # of kids in this district and you'll have a pretty nauseating number for your household balance sheet.
