Never fear, people are flocking into the district as evidenced by the homes barely lasting 15 minutes on the market and commanding top dollar above asking price.l

Absolutely! Have you SEEN the numbers?! We've got over 1,800 enrolled in ADK so far - and 80 in half day! And we've got over 1,800 seniors graduating this year! (Oops, uh, nevermind....) Yes and 1880 x 4 = 10,400 ! ooops If the justification for putting MV at AME was that 1880*4=10,400 you would have people writing letters that anyone who says it's not is "entitled" with a "ritzy" calculator.

Now watch for the battle cries from people who don't want to go back to WV.

Now watch for the battle cries from people who don't want to go back to WV. Oh I have heard a few people make statements that they are bummed to be leaving WV now that the new group is coming in. What kind of crap is that? Curriculum is the same so who are being elitist/prejudice? What exactly is different about the "new group" is what I would like to know! I would hate to hear the answer.

Just proves that you cannot generalize people and there are many different motivators on the table for individual's position of NV vs. WV vs. MV.

Don't take "k" numbers as gospel 1st graders are more reliable. Then make argument as to what would be ideal numbers for our high schools. If you feel the numbers presently are ideal, add for the bubble and call it a day. As for me the high schools are packed -frontier is a stop gap that needs to be folded into each of the 3 high schools. I am not worried about future growth nearly as much as the kids already in district.

Don't take "k" numbers as gospel 1st graders are more reliable. I hope that you are right. As I stated before we normally get a K to 1st jump; however, Dave Holm and Daeschner were very confident at the All Day K board meeting that we would have 300 or so "extra" kindergartners signed up this year due to ADK - thereby virtually eliminating the K to 1st jump and turning ADK into a "moneymaker" due to extra state funding.

Yes, this was stated by both gentleman at school board meetings. ADK is cheaper than day care.

I am not worried about future growth nearly as much as the kids already in district. I think it would have been a very hard sell to convince everyone to build a third high school for the current enrollment peak only. The passing of the referendum hinged on convincing everyone that there would be future growth and enrollment would not continue to decline. $150 M is a lot of money to spend on a bubble. Unless the plan is to close one of the high schools.

I am sorry to say but not much decline based on currently enrolled 1st graders. Still lots of open acres in 204 and don't forget the infill homes. When exactly is the big decline coming?

Like I said, I hope you are right and Holm & Daeschner are wrong regarding enrollment for All Day K. On the September enrollment comparison: 07-08 K = 1842 06-07 K = 1988 that class added 222 students when they went to first grade But if we've already "gotten" the extra K to first jump in the current K numbers as they said they would, this is a pretty significant drop in enrollment. 07-08 1st = 2210 06-07 1st = 2358 so if you compare this years' 1900 to those numbers that's a pretty big slide.

When exactly is the big decline coming? don't need a huge decline - better question is when is this huge growth happening ? Also you assume infill will be quicker than aging areas - not the case here - MW hundreds below the size it once was. I am sure we are not alone. School boards own numbers for 1st grade ( prjections based on growth) - 1st thru 4th grade ( = a future HS class ) year = 1 gr + 2 gr + 3 gr + 4 gr = future HS class size 2011 = 2134 + 2143 + 2070 + 2215 = class of 8562 2012 = 2134 + 2143 + 2135 + 2065 = class of 8577 2013 = 2134 + 2143 + 2135 + 2130 = class of 8642 take out 600 for Frontier Campus and 1000 for NV fresh center If you build a 7th MS and leave WVHS freshman center - that leaves 2 3000 student main campus HS's - and if one doesn't like the numbers - they're not mine, nor just speculation, they are the planning #'s for your SD.

Unless the plan is to close one of the high schools. You can thank the Northern Illinos forecast for that - their projection of 10,400 was grossly over the 8800 estimate we had just a few years earlier when we opened the freshman centers. Now the forecast again is 8931 ( almost exactly what we had the first time ). Northern's team screwed up St Charles projection the exact same way - now it is much lower also. Maybe NIU will open an extension location @ Waubonsie when we don't have enough students to fill those 3 HS's
