MWGEN land is 37.47 acres. St. John was going to keep 35 (84.1 - 49.1) to build their church. Any word on if they are buying the MWGEN land to build their chuch? It's the perfect sized piece of land right where they wanted their church. I heard they have found their land and now have enough funds to build their church. Come on! No one can honestly think the AME congregation would be that foolish to want to build their church on a former power plant property. No way would that happen. They've made a pretty penny off our district and now the Good Reverend is off to build and expand his flock at a new safe location. They were lucky enough to sell of the questionable land to our SD. I personally still find it interesting that Jesse Hawkins (AME pastor) lists his 2 addresses on campaign donations both in the MV attendance area (Ginger Woods and area near Stonebridge).

The Rev. Hawkins lives in Gingerwoods, but I am unclear on why this is interesting.

Have you met a single person outside of NV attendance area who wanted to have their own NVHS? Have you met a single person with children attending WV who wants out? Have you met anyone in the north who has in any way indicated they felt entitled to a new school building? I am in the north and I have not. When NV was built closer to my home at the time than WV, I did not hear anyone in that area complain that they wanted our neighborhood to go to NV. Some people moved from WV to NV attendance area but may have simply been moving to a bigger house in the district. All were happy to have the additional needed space and opportunities for the district's children. (Brookdale wanted to attend HS with some other kids from Hill, they weren't looking to get out of WV as far as I know) Yes, Yes and Yes. I have to admit until the last year the answer would have been no. I had 2 different parents when I was at Hill functions tell me straight out it was about time the north got a new school like they paid for 10 years ago. They did not know where I stood on things and I did not tell them then, I just nodded as quite frankly, I couldn't believe my ears. When we were at a track meet this year from Hill- I had 2 different parents, ( 1 from BD and 1 from LW) tell me they were so glad MV was going to open because they did not want their daughters at WVHS. I had not met either of these parents prior to this, they didn't know me from Adam. I was not as quiet ( much to my wife's dismay ) at these comments. And actually to be totally honest I sought them out for their response as I was waiting with my daughter and a few of her friends she introduced me to while they were waiting their turns to run. When I asked the girls if they were excited for high school - those comments came out - so I decided to ask the parents myself why ( now you know why my wife usually sits with other Mom's at events. ) . I asked them why and they told me they thought the school was too rough for girls. WHen I protested and used my older daughter as an example as someone who loved her experience at WVHS and never had one issue in 4 years, their response was I didn't know what I was tlaking about because it had changed. So sad to say Mom, yes I have.... How many people feel that way I have no idea - but read the Sun Blogs - they are out there. And I agree when NV was built, I never heard this in my area either - people were more than fine with staying at our 'home' school- and we were right next to you at the time. So if that existed North then I do not know - to be fair DOC...some of the guys and and their wives from my softball team feel the same way...they live south of 95th st. and some of them are WV grads...I told them they have no clue. some people forget where they come from..the neighborhoods they would never live in now are the ones their parents bought there first house in....

Hi all, I've been reading this site for a while. This is my first post. I've been wondering why all the thanks to the AME folks for selling their property? Did they donate the land or something? Didn't they turn a profit when selling? Why was the pastor invited to the ground breaking ceremony when those that ran the 204thekids campaign were not there.

I didn't, but go ahead and twist it to your benefit so it makes you feel better. Actually, I will feel better when they: 1. Apologize to the children who were told they would go to MVHS and voted on the colors/mascot. 2. Apologize for the entitlement comment.
3. Apoligize for not interjecting when some community members called others racists.Until that time, I don't need to "twist" anything. It is what it is and they've said nothing to remedy any of it. What I don't get is why they need cheerleaders to defend their poor behavior. I'm sure your heart is in the right place - but we are "entitled" to feel the way we do about how we have been treated. They are responsible. And until they apoligize, I will continue to feel the way I do. I missed where these comments were made about a specific neighborhood(s)?

Steckdad,
Seriously? Didn't you read the LTE's that slammed specific neighborhoods? Where was the SB in condeming that slander?
Only Chris Vickers spoke out against that language.
If it wasn't specific, it was understood where it was directed.
Don't you agree?
What neighborhoods do you think Dr. D. was addressing when he spoke to entitlement? Just curious?

What I find ironic is that the jury is out in my book on M2 that he is not entitled or a d&*n racist himself (especially after one too many encounters he and I had). I will leave it at that. And if M2 reads this board....think back to the elections.

The SB members were smart to stay away from commenting and CV should have took the high road too... maybe the entitlement comment was meant to address stonebridge people?

Certain SB members openly have commented that TG has "issues and need to get a grip." The problem is that the SB talks too much when alone to those they think are their friends...but then these same people have friends and on and on and on. They need to learn to stop running their mouths!!!

Steckdad,
I sure hope you are trying to humor me with your last post. I'm kinda chuckling with the Stonebridge comment... You have a good sense of humor.
Trust me, the entitlement shoe doesn't fit me (nor, my neighbors). Yet, I felt it was directed at not only me but my community. I wasn't the only one that felt that way. I'm pretty sure there were 1,200 other homes that felt it was an undeserved "slam".
I've wondered, after hearing that comment from Daeschner, who is more prejudiced? Who made an assumption prior to commentary? Who prejudged people?
To start an emotionally charged boundary meeting with that? Pretty darn stupid. Wouldn't a certain amount of empathy towards the situation have gone so much further?
Nobody in the corporate world, that I've ever known, would be so bold to begin a meeting with such a negative statement.
Who in their right mind would do that? And, why?
