Come On Guys don't miss out on the fun! I think the Watts folks should pack into mini vans with "Metea or Bust" in window chalk (preferably black and yellow- gold colors) and caravan over! A fun touch would be maps and compasses to pass out in goodie bags ;D. I'll get there early (I'm pretty close by so I'll stop at Dunkin Donuts for the treats). I'll be wearing a yellow rain slicker and wading boots with Metea Varsity on the back! I seriously will be there. If you get a chance, stop by !!! sorry, I really can't think of anywhere else I'd rather be at less than there. To watch the smug faces of a certain few while we get screwed is not my idea of fun. Besides our SB will never miss May Watts people anyway - they forgot we exist. I wish I could do the same in return. Oh I don't think they will be smug for very long. Once the $$$ impact hits, many will be singing a different toon. One of my friends from Stonehaven is already changing it. How ironic. She was on the AME bandwagon for a long time and now not so sure they can afford all these bad decisions of our SB as it relates to $$$.

Any word on whether all SB members will be in attendance? I have my predictions. First one to get a photo of BG at the site wins a prize ;D

Maybe I hit the lottery, but my tax rate for the district went down. My assessed value on the other hand went up just enough for it not to make a difference. The office your friend should be pointing her finger at is the assessor's office. How our home values have increased in this market is truly an issue that causes me to scratch my head in wonder! Nothing is likely to change from the district--as far as property taxes go--until the next referendum.

The assessed value is for the year prior, so the previous 10 month performance of the housing market doesn't matter worth a darn. Overall, is your home value up from what you paid or down?

The SB has too much power to do whatever with the taxpayers money. Remember we are not reasonable voters.

In true IPSD204 style, they'll just use a stock photo of a groundbreaking for "a high school site". The law doesn't require them to have a ceremony at the actual site.

From what I paid back in '92? What's your guess? We've made some improvements, too. But the same thing is happening in the neighborhoods around me. Valuations have gone up. The housing bubble started to burst two years ago around the time of the referendum. It's still floundering. Doesn't change the fact that the tax rate for the district is lower and the reason for any increase in a tax bill is due to assessed value.

I believe that most of the district's voters will be willing to get out the yes vote in order to keep our district running smoothly. But, I've been wrong before. I think the best time to exercise the vote is not for referendum funds, but for who you will next elect into those rockin' seats at the CEC. I take that back that was just silly. Every vote should be taken on its merits and its need.

I take that back that was just silly. Every vote should be taken on its merits and its need. And every referendum text will be taken at face value, knowing full well if it's not explicit in there or even excluded that the SB can and will use a very wide range of discretion when it comes to spending that money approved. This is what they are underestimating and this is what the voters were made aware of loud and clear. Good luck w/ your get out the vote efforts because there are a lot of people in the district that it does not effect that really won't give a darn and will be NO. I said they were going to hand the voteNO crowd a platform on a silver platter and they did just that. I hope they enjoy the results for the next 5 or more referendums because it will take the majority in the voting public that long to forget about it (if they ever do).

Don't think they cover D204 in The Sun City Times so Daeschner won't even know what happens around here in 2012, right? (BTW I think all this 2012 talk is just another stick to beat the teacher's union with when their contract comes up. As is full immersion foreign language for ES.)
