I had to backtrack through May Watts area today to get to Ogden east because of the repaving by Walmart. What a mess. Anyway, I have a question: if you go up River to Ogden, how far north is 204. Does it end at Oswego Road?

Does it end at Oswego Road? yes... for the east side of river. West of river includes the apartments by the post office too.

I know for the next ref, I will be voting NO. The SB has too much power to do whatever with the taxpayers money. Remember we are not reasonable voters. It's your vote, and you are entitled to do whatever you want with it. I believe that most of the district's voters will be willing to get out the yes vote in order to keep our district running smoothly. But, I've been wrong before. I think the best time to exercise the vote is not for referendum funds, but for who you will next elect into those rockin' seats at the CEC. I take that back that was just silly. Every vote should be taken on its merits and its need. That's exactly it - with the extra added knowledge that whatever they tell you they want the money for is meaningless- but legal. I will view each as there will be no more automatic yes's as I have done for 19 years. And it will take a much harder sell for me since they have now forced us to seek education outside the district - so the effect on my household is a lot more indirect.

Related to the topic of this thread...the groundbreaking for MVHS...
Personally , I find it a bit insulting that an invitation has not been extended to the hundreds of parents that put in many hours via 204thekids to pass the referendum.
Why do you think that is?

Personally , I find it a bit insulting that an invitation has not been extended to the hundreds of parents that put in many hours via 204thekids to pass the referendum. Why do you think that is? The reasoning as I have been told is twofold: 1) not very much room for parking - the invited guests (city officials, etc.) are parking at Indian Plains HS and are being shuttled over to the site. 2) the administration does not want this to appear to be an "in your face" type of celebration. IMO, by inviting everyone, it would give the appearance of too much gloating. On the flip side of that, they lose out on the opportunity to acknowledge all the individuals who worked so hard for this HS and MS. Sort of a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" scenario. I believe the real "celebration" will be when they actually open the school. I wasn't around when Neuqua was opened, but I believe their is a tribute or something. Not sure what it's called at the moment. The whole thing tomorrow is pretty much a photo op for the paper and should only last about 20 min. from what I understand.

I understand the lack of parking - that will continue after the school is complete - but I don't really understand how a big photo op with public officials staged for the newspapers isn't "in your face." ?

I'm still waiting for my thank you for the untold hours I ( and others in Watts ) put in over 2.5 years for the ref -- oh yeah, I forgot, they decided to forget those of us in my area existed. I think they lost blocked our emails.

I really don't know why I bother to post anything over here. It gets twisted no matter what. But here goes.... Inviting every single supporter, 204thekids campaigner, PTA member, volunteer parent, past board member, past principal, IPPC member (past or present), teacher, would be "in your face". By limiting the number of invitees, they are trying to keep it low-key. You gotta know the paper would want coverage. They've even stated there's already been a ground breaking ceremony as someone here pointed out to me. So you really wouldn't think this would make the Sun? The only question is how the Sun will report it.

I get what you're saying LoriP,
It's just part of the 'process' and they want to do it, but do the minimal and get that 'step' over with minus all the hoopla, etc.
That about sum it up?

I would hope that at some point the SB is quoted in the Sun thanking all those that put in endless hours to get the referendum passed. I feel as soon as the SB changed course from BB they turned their attentions on courting a new group of taxpayers and left many behind without even a word of thanks. A thank you or an expression of gratitude can go a long way as opposed to silence.

SLP, don't hold your breath. But they did thank all the supporters of the Eola site, very nicely and very graciously I might add.

There's an old yiddish joke that goes: what's the difference between a schmuck and a schlemeel. Answer: the schmuck is the guy who jumps off the Empire state building, the schlemeel is the guy he lands on.
