Realtors recommend locations, but potential home buyers do the research on their own. Only an idiot would move into any subdivision solely based on information from a realtor. Media has made it a tough sale to purchase in neighborhoods feeding into Metea....atleast until we have an actual fully build school. New family in our gym just bought in the area and although Stonebridge was a great location for accessing the train, the factors surrounding the 3rd HS was a deal breaker for them at this time. Opted for White Eagle instead. I am surprised the union workers are not walking off the site with all the dangers looming at the eola site......

Let's see, a botched referendum followed by botched enrollment figures and botched boundaries to pass a referendum followed by botched negotiations followed by botched quick take effort followed by a botched condemnation trial followed by a botched land acquisition with a seller backing out .... HOW DARE the Naperville Sun call this a botch-up mess!?! Those were all perfectly legitimate ditches to fall into! especially if your area got a raw deal huh?
all those items were botched regardless of what deal anyone got - the item that screwed certain areas was a site selection nowhere near the population center , and basically taking Option 6 ( thanks JC ) and enforcing it since Howie wasn't here to say no. If they would have put the school in Bolingbrook where the one site was and sent your area there for HS and to say Crone for MS I'll bet you'd be seeing it differently -- that's equivalent to the deal we got.

Kinda Like I did a year and 1/2 ago.....

Unfortunately not all my friends and neighbors were able to do the same thing for various reasons. the sad thing is no one here should have had to if a little common sense had been applied instead of stupidity ( at best - back door deals at worst )

Boundaries are fluid - you took a big chance thinking that you will stay at "the school of your choice" Is there something wrong with the other schools that are not your "choice"? What exactly makes one school "choice" over another, in your opinion?
I think it depends on the individual and how he/she percives it. If you moved here for your kid to specificly go to NV then yes you got a major raw deal if you were changed to whatever other school regardless of which. Then again in this type of thing someone always gets the short end of the stick. Evidently you did 204 mom as you see it.

I'm wearing a white shirt and calling people names - that means I'm happy, right? Here's the funny thing. We are all supposed to be happy about the school we are assigned to because we live in such a great district. Remember Bruce Glawe's holier-than-thou speech at the Jan board meeting? Then it's ok for steckdad to tell everyone to just move around the district to attend the school of their choice. It's ok for hundreds of Owen East parents to sign a petition asking to move their kids OUT of Metea. Why no sneering entitlement speeches for them? Oh, and no one got the "short end of the stick" or a "raw deal" (not my words) because they're going to run double busses with gas at $4 a gallon, remember? There was a pretty map with lines & travel times from all the elementary schools - remember - it looked like a Southwest airlines napkin. Oh, and there was the retraction of the site selection report from 2 years ago that called the Eola site a danger to our children. Ooops, wait a minute, that never happened.

Well 204mom I am not disagreeing with you. The whole thing would have been laughable if the situation wasn't so serious. I get a kick out of your mention of Southwest. (or Southworst as I call it) You have a point there. Well the SB are elected officials after all. Like our elected politicians a job qualification is how well they lie. Well that is how they get elected isn't it? But like in Chicago who cares just so long as the garbage is picked up and the streets are kept clean.

Diesel is more than $4/gallon... the busses run on diesel.
