It's called pass the proper referendum. No need to change a law. Would you support an AC in the ES referendum or not? Only after the 3rd hs is paid for so check back with me in 2029. So you would vote NO unilaterally across the board for ACs until after 2029. Well, at least we know where your position is now. Does that also mean a NO for *ANY* new money needed for anything until after 2029?

There will be no voting as I don't see this cause coming to fruition......... Let's start a new thread about how all of our kids wear short sleeve t-shirts to school in winter cause it is so hot and that the teachers open the windows., wasting both enery and our tax dollars.............. This all leads back to 'do it right the 1st time every time" with the SD

Let's keep your logic and ask a about a real vote coming up: Will you vote for or against the 2009 operating referendum? Is your hypothetical 'no' to ACs until 2029 unilateral for any physical (building) project? Your answer may very well help someone if they decide to take this issue up in the future... so any sharing you can do about your stance will help since any spending vote always meets with opposition.

Good night Harry...
I'll leave you this for the morning:
Your statement of: "This all leads back to 'do it right the 1st time every time" with the SD"
has me wondering if you are trying to say that the elementary schools did not cost enough when they were built and you would have supported them if they had ACs at the time of construction. I'm actually trying to pull this back to ESs and ACs, and I admit my own fault for tangeting a bit here.
In your mind, did the Elementary schools that were built without ACs not cost enough money because they had excluded ACs and that (by your statement) wasn't right the first time?

We are sitting on goo gobs of tax payer $$ with nothing to build in site. Take the time now to organize the community to make a change and bring AC to every building in Dist 204!!!!!!!!!! Harry, the money we are "sitting" on is to build Metea and it will be built. You cannot take money from a referendum to build a school and use it elsewhere, that is illegal. On the other hand, I agree with you. SSM, make the change you want to happen. Don't talk, do it. M2 has all these glorious years under his belt and has been so kind to explain history since the 1980s.......let's see what he does....or if he even cares.

He was clearly on the board during those glorious years when most of these buildings' referendums were passed WITHOUT consideration of AC !!!!!!!!! BS on the "The Sb was sure that, if we included AC, the ref wouldn't have passed" Did they ask ANYONE if they cared about AC or not before forming the referendum for any of these schools?? Did they pay people for their 'expertise' in this matter as is the current status quo?? Any of you old timers, please chime in any time.

Driven, if you feel you need to keep your kid home because of the heat, you should.
One side of me says if kids in the 40s,50s,60,70s,80s survived going to school when it was hot out back then, the kids today will to.
Plus the cost is a negative factor.
How many days do would the SD actually need the AC? Maybe 3-4 weeks?
The other side says if the kids can be more attentive and learn more on those hot days with AC. It might be worth the cost.
Right now I am against putting AC in all the buildings.

I would not support putting AC in schools either. It is an issue, but in the grand scheme has to be weighed and prioritized with the other things facing our district.
I do not support our board or board members spending significant time on the issue. It is best left to those concerned parents researching it and providing a proposed solution in a committee.
First things first.

He is a parent of an ES student who is sitting in the same heat as the rest of our ES children. I would suggest you contact M2, ask him what you can do to remedy this situation.
